  2. Quite a list there :) Â I'll be sure to check some of these out. I proclaim theYinYeti the small apps junkie (if there are no other contenders) :D
  3. I was just wondering what small useful GNU/Linux apps do members (or visitors) use regularly? I use Radio Tray. Â It's straightforward, easy to configure and most importantly not a resource hog! [moved from Software by spinynorman]
  4. To disable the 3d effects: At your login screen do: Alt & ctrl & F1 to switch to the terminal. Â Login as root. Â Once logged in type: drak3d, press enter or return twice. Â Type exit to leave root mode. Â Do alt & f8 to bring back the login screen. Login as normal, 3d effects should now be disabled.
  5. That might be due to the fact you are trying to install a Fedora rpm. Â There's a How-To here: Mandriva Instructions 1 or here: Mandriva Instructions 2

  8. Sorry my mistake, you should type: kdesu kcmshell4 'fileshare' to run the interface as root.Â
  9. Try Alt & F2 then type: kcmshell4 'fileshare' See if the File Sharing - KDE Control Module appears. Â If it does set who can set shares, i.e. users, users in a particular group etc.
  10. Â Then why would you sign for the removal of something you do not use?
  11.  Upgrade to 2010.1 completed over 'wifi'.  The only issue during the upgrade was complaints about invalid or bad package signatures.  After upgrade KDM failed to start.  This was easily remedied by choosing vesa mode.  I then downloaded the nvidia driver and installed it myself.  All in all a smooth, pain free experience. :)
  12. Does anyone know if updating via the net will still be an option?
  13. The problem seems to be with the free na grabber. Â When I select Canada (free alternative - na_dtv) I get the same error as you do. Â Selecting Canada (shedulesdirect.org - costs money) it works up to a point where I am asked for a username. Upon further investigation it seems the free grabber for Canada is currently broken. See here: http://www.xmltv.se/validator/nightly/ BTW: The latest version of Freeguide from the repositories is 0.10.12
  14. Did you also install the grabber for your country? Â From commandline: urpmi xmltv-grabbers-<insert your country here> For example, I live in the uk, for me I type: urpmi xmltv-grabbers-uk. You might also want to install the xmltv-gui a graphical frontend to xmltv.
  15. I get the same message. Â All I do is leave the message there until the file transfers complete and then I click it.

  19. Thanks for the prompt reply John. Â I'm trying to gauge how long I can expect to wait for it to perform the same job on a 20Gb hard drive. Â Oh and isn't OpenShot a great app :D
