  2. Sorry that i took long to the reply. I had to go out, and I just got back and tried your suggestion. I added your content to the end of my "commonhttpd.conf" file, and then did a "service httpd restart". Went to "www.mysite.com/cgi-bin/FormMail.pl" and i get: "NOT FOUND The requested URL /cgi-bin/FormMail.pl was not found on this server." :( Was i suposed to replace something with your content, or was i suposed to just add that in to the end of my "commonhttpd.conf" file? also, in this site: http://www.ictp.trieste.it/~radionet/2003_...ain/text54.html it says to use a .htpaccess file. Would that be any help here? Thank you for your help and patience...

One problem is solved, it wont ask me if i want to download the ".pl" scripts anymore. It also wont give me the "404 url not found error anymore. This time it just says: "FORBIDDEN You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/FormMail.pl on this server" So as you can see i am still stuck. I am having a lot of problems running perl scripts on my server. my installation is: "Mandrakelinux-10.1-Community" All my software came installed by default from the mandrake cds. All i did was check the box for webserver. Everything is working fine on my server. I got 3 websites with their own domain names on the same server through VirtualHosts. I have php, mysql, and a whole bunch of useful things working. I got no complains there, mandrake linux is awsome. My problem is that I cant get perl scripts working. I made a "cgi-bin" folder in one of my site's root dir. I put my "FormMail.pl" script in there. When I try to use it, i get asked if i want to download "formmail.pl" So I tried renaming the script to "FormMail.cgi", and i get this: "NOT FOUND The requested URL /cgi-bin/formmail.cgi was not found on this server." I try creating a folder called "perl" and put my script there, rename it to "FormMail.pl", and......same problem. One strange thing tho: There is a "cgi-bin" folder in "/var/www/" In that folder i found "test.cgi" So i got that file and moved it to the cgibin folder of my site: "/var/www/html/mysite1/cgi-bin" I then went to "www.mysite1.com/cgi-bin/test.cgi" and....That script worked. There was also another folder "/var/www/perl/". In that folder i found "test.pl". I moved that script to "/var/www/html/mysite1/perl/" then i go to "www.mysite1.com/perl/test.pl" and it asks me if i want to download "test.pl" Btw, i did set the chmod on my script to 755, i even tried 777, but still no good results. So I am really stuck here. I got most of my help to get my server started from google, But google is not being so helpful on this problem.   7. Hello. I am still kinda new to linux, and I've just now encountered a small problem. I have installed Mandrake 10.1, and all the software I have came installed with it. This is my problem: I have 2 domain names registered to the same ip(my mandrake server) my websites are set up like this: /var/www/html/WEBSITE1 - website 1 /var/www/html/WEBSITE2 - website 2 now I want www.domainname.com to point to website 1 and www.domainname2.com to point to website 2 but i dont want to use the "redirect to url" option in the domainregistration website because it wont look that good. I want to use to redirect to ip option. So i found a cgi script that you can put in your / directory and it will redirect to a higher directory depending on what domainname u used to get there. The problem is, the script wont run in the /html/ directory for some strange reason that i dont know. Is there any way to fix this? By the way, the server software is apache, the one that comes with Mandrake 10.1 Thank you....

  9. No, my memory card had gone bad. I tested it on another machine to verify this and indeed it was no good.
  10. Your not the first. I had the same exact problem. I would boot from cd1 and it would show the mandrake install splashscreen (where it asks to press enter to install). I would press enter and then it goes to the "loading program into memory" screen. But I never made it past that screen, when the bar was almost full, it would change to a black screen saying "sending termination signals" and then it would reboot and the whole process would repeat over and over again. You dont even have to press enter at the splashscreen, if you wait a few seconds it will start the process automatically. I would sit for hours watching it do this on its own over and over again. Anyway, I kept on thinking it was the cdrom drive or that the cd's were burned the wrong way, but finally I decided to check the memory. Sure enough it was the memory card. I changed the card and it installed with no problem.....
  11. Ok. to recap: when I boot with mandrake linux 10.1 cd1, it always takes me to the text installation. On the last step of the text installation, at the "Summary" screen. I see: "Graphical interface: not configured" So I configure it: select vesa driver select my monitor driver resolution 1024x768 it asks me to test it, i click yes and....... boom: An error occurred: (EE) Failed to load module "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.a" (once-only module, 135962511) (WW) ****INVALID MEM ALLOCATION**** b: 0xd0000000 e: 0xd001ffff correcting Try to change some parameters So then I go back and change the driver now to: Diamond Fire GL 1000 ( my card ) then I test again and: An error occurred: (EE) Failed to load module "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.a" (once-only module, 135962511) (EE) No devices detected. Try to change some parameters So yeah I am still stuck

  13. Hello everyone. I've been searching all over the web and on this forum, but I cant find no solution to this problem. So finally I've decided to see if you guys can help. I am trying to install mandrake linux 10.1 on a dell precision workstation 420. When I boot with the mandrake cd1 it keeps on loading the text installation. I cant get it to load the graphical installation. My graphics card is an agp 4x Diamond Fire GL 1. I went ahead and installed linux with the text installation but at the very end of the installation where it shows me the configuration, it showed the graphics as "not configured". so i went in there and tried to configure it. I select the make and model of my graphics card, then it asks me to test it. But when I test it, it gives me an error that it couldnt load some file. So I am stuck now. I have already installed mandrakelinux on 2 other machines with the same cds and had no problems, so I am pretty sure it has to do with the driver for my video card.
