  1. My install went relatively well yesterday, a few problems with wrong file paths in the menu and the themes in gnome, but both were easily fixed. So far feels very solid.

  3. Osnews is running an article "World Exclusive: Mandrake Linux 9.1 Review" It was posted today, it says it deals with 9.1 final. RC3 must be final. Here is the link http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=3116

    9.1 Final

So is Friday the day?? They are running a story at PCLO that it is pretty much done. I think they have even compiled, not sure tho, the post on cooker was kinda cryptic (or perhaps it wasn't, maybe I just don't understand it.) Anyway, does anyone know when it will be on the mirrors?
  7. Alsa 0.9.1 final was released today, try installing it, perhaps it will solve the problem.
  8. I own a game theater XP 7.1. I am sill using 9.0 tho. Anyway, first you need to find out which driver you are using. It will either be the cs46xx or the snd-cs46xx. The correct one is the snd-cs46xx. The best way to check this is open a console, su to root and type in draksound. Make sure you are using the snd-cs46xx. Unfortunately ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) doesn't support a few of the greeat outputs and inputs this sound card has. I have heard rumors of digital input/output support in ALSA .9 which is due out within the week. I can't wait to record MD's digitally. BTW I got most of this info from a forum on the hercules site before I purchased the card. It might be worth reading what is there.
  9. Hmm, I havent had much time to look at this cause I am running late, but I think Mozilla is able to do it. Heres the link http://www.mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/te...drB_import.html I look more later.
  10. I am trying to switch my mom to Linux. One of the major problems I foresee is her having to rebuild all of her e-mail information(address book, mailbox, etc.) She uses Eudora on Windows. I have found some utilities for converting the mailbox to a format that most Linux mail programs can interpret, but I havent been able to find a utility to convert the address book. If there is a tool that does both of these things that would be great. Thanks.
  11. Post some screenshots of the included theme which they are calling galaxy, I am very anxious to see it. I know I could install it from cooker but I want to wait until 9.1 final is out, something to look forward to;)
  12. According to distrowatch ML is pushing 9.1 RC1 to its FTP mirrors, I dont think they have made an official statement yet, but I cant wait for the final.
  13. Thanks so much, Dia is exactly what I am looking for, perhaps now I can convince some of my classmates to use it rather than downloading visio.
  14. I am studying for my CCNA, in the middle of my TCS. Anyway I can't seem to find a LAN topology designer for Linux. Our instructors keep telling us to use M$ Visio. Is there anything comparable for Linux? I would prefer not to use the Cisco one either, because it is way too involved for simple designs requiring subnetting and correct addressing before any design is implemented. Thanks.
