  1. I installed pygtk-devel just now and the problems is still there. Perhaps I need to make a manual entry in the pkgconfig directory, if so I wouldnt know how to do it.
  2. I am having a difficult time compiling gDesklets 0.12.1 After running the configure script this is the error I get The only entry in /usr/lib/pkgconfig that I think might be relevant is gnome-python-2.0.pc* I dontknow whay but its the only executable one in the directory.
  3. I meant on the same comp, and I do have a 10gb fat32 partition for documents and media. The other day I wanted to edit some config files, but I was too lazy to reboot, and I thought there was probably a driver or program to do this since most (all?) of the Linux Filesystems are open souce.
  4. Anyone know of any good (preferably free) programs that support reading and writing to any or all of the major supported fielsystems of Linux?
  5. The source rpm compiled fine on my system.
  6. I tried pre1. it tok me three tries before i got it to compile and even then i couldnt get it to boot. I'll try the beta in a few days.
  7. I installed the mandrake one from my 9.1 cd's and the problem was solved. Thanks bvc. The MUB always has the answer.
  8. Yeah after some searching it seems the latest release of metacity is 2.44 or something, I compiled it from source just now, but I dont know how to replace the installed rpm with the binary I compiled. Its probably just better if I reinstall the rpm that is ont he mdk disks.
  9. [root@localhost shoegoo]# rpm -q metacity && > rpm -q gnome-panel metacity-2.5.0-1tex gnome-panel-2.2.0.1-6mdk
  10. im using 2.2.0 of gnome and version 2.5.0 of texstars metacity
  11. No, I'm not running any expiramental thats part of gnome, nor are gkrellm or xmms non-stable. I should have been more clear. I amm running the latest from texstar and/or mandrake.
  12. That doesnt make a diff :( I guess I'll work on new ideas. :)
  13. The problem seems to be somehow gnome related because it doesnt occur in KDE. I cant figure out why it does it. Most of the time when I start xmms it isnt on the screen so I have to right click on it in the window list and select move, i can hen move it on the screen. The playlist and EQ are also no where to be seen. Sometimes if I play witht he buttons I can get them to appear, but when I drag them they jump around a little and disappear againu, just like xmms.
  14. I got k3b installed from rpm (i tried to do it from source, and ended up compiling QT and it still didnt work). I got a cd burned also, but k3b froze a coupl times on me during the song selection process. Oh well I can live witht hat, cause the cd it burned plays on my home stereo which hasnt played a burned cd since I quit using my old 8x burner.

    Gaim .65

0.66 has been released, however no mdk rpm yet.
  17. I am wondering if the is an *easy* way to burn ogg files to a cd in wav format(playable on a regular cd player). I have been trying to figure it out with k3b, xcdroast, gcombust, and a few others I think. I want to try nautilus burner, but I can't find documentation on it anywhere. BTW this is on a RH 9 box running XD2.
  18. I had heard that Redhat leaves out mp3 support to promote the superior and free source OGG format. They leave out DVD support because of a necessary decryption library which lawsuits have been filed about. (2600 vs. MPAA I believe). They could install xine and mplayer without dvd support so I dont really understand why they dont do that.
  19. OK, it plays continuously now, but the pixel thing doesn't seem to be the problem. I am thinking its not something that has to do with just XMMS because it also happens to gkrellm.
  20. Ok this is a really weird problem, but whenever I start up XMMS it starts almost all the way off the screen, and when I try to drag it, it just disappears until I right click on the taskerbar and go to move XMMS. I am using gnome, and everything is at its latest release. I have tried reinstalling XMMS from other rpm's and even compiling it from source and the same problem happens. It also seems to happen with gkrellm. XMMS also won't play continuously. After a song finishes it simply stops. Any help would be great, thanks.
  21. http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/nt.html http://www.enterprisedt.com/publications/d.../dual_boot.html I am aware the mbr isnt ntfs. Those articles are some of the many howto's describing how ntfs windows systems and linux can coexist on a drive. That is what led me to believe the mbr should not be written to by anything other than Windows when Windows uses and ntfs partiton.
  22. I am pretty sure windows won't boot if the mbr is written to, thats only on ntfs system partitions.
  23. I was curious about the tool too chad. Did it ask you where you wanted LILO? Cause if you put it in the mbr obviously you can't boot into windows. Was there any data loss? Anything else you can tell me (us?) would be great.
  24. Actually I am not planning on having many distros installed conurrently, I just meant that I won't be going all the way through the Mandrake Install since I will be trying different distros. I will probably have just one partition(yes I know I should have more), sorry for the lack of clarity.
  25. I have only read a few lines about the ntfs resizing in 9.1. I am getting ready to resize both of my family's XP boxes and I was wondering what expiriences everyone has had so far. Any problems with data? I am going to be trying many diff distros on the partitions, so I am basically just using diskdrake. When installing the bootloader at the end of install after resizing and ntfs partition, does it automatically setup the boot record correctly (writing to boot.ini and NOT the mbr)? Thanks.
