  1. Thanx for the reply ! I've urpmi all of it (Apollon and plugins). Not sure how I enable the opennap, gnutella, gift, etc. I got the fasttrack running, so it isn't that important. It just had been fun to make them work though, since they are avaliable I'm pretty much a noob to Linux but like to learn and explore more of it ! Thanx
  2. Hi there ! I've just installed Apollon on my mandriva 2006 and it works perfect with the FastTrack (kazaa), but how do I install other plugins and make them work under Apollon ? I've urpmi opennap, opengift and gnutella, etc., but doesn't appear in the "info" screen like it does on the link below; http://apollon.sourceforge.net/screenshots/apollon1.png Any suggestions ? Thanx ! Best regards
  3. Hi ! Thanx for reply ! I've tried removing the soundwrapper text in menudrake (done that once before), but that didn't work this time...., but I urpmi xmms-alsa which i read in another post and then it worked again !! Still I got this problem when everytime I boot/reboot my linuxbox, it loads my web-browser with this page I visited days ago, and also my mailapp. "Kontact" ?? Is there a way to remove this. Kinda annoying......
  4. Hi I just upgraded from LE2005 with Mandriva 2006. Several things got mixed up......... Problem one; I can't get my XMMS to run at all. When clicking the Xmms icon, nothing happens at all. First I didn't get Mplayer to work eighter (only in root), until I stopped all audio apss. and then stopped and started the ALSA module. Then I got Mplayer to work again ?!?! But my XMMS sems to need some more configurations :-| Problem 2; Everytime I reboot or start up, Mandriva allways load my web-browser with a page I visited days ago and my mailapp., kontact ??? hmmm... I allways get some problems llike these with each upgrade.....?!? Thanx ! Best regards
  5. Hi ! Thank you all for great information ! I will run a reinstallation soon, and will then follow your leads. Thanx !
  6. HI ! Is there an easy way to change the bootloader to start windows automaticly (when the timeout runs out) instead of Linux with a dual boot; XP and Mandriva LE2005 ? Since I'm only trying things out..... ;-) And also... a great partition suggestion on my system: Got two SATA discs on 80GB each. They are configured with raid (two 80GB into one 160GB I think) It's been a while since I set up this computer, so it's time to reinstall everything, but with Linux as an alternative. Rest of my system: 1GB ram, P4 2,6Ghz CPU, GFFX5600(256). I've also heard that making the swap partition on another physical drive is absolutely recommended ? Best regards Thanx!
  7. Hi again folks ! Well, I just wanted you to know that I urpme shorewall, restarted and then urpmi shorewall again. The problem is still there. hmm... I think I have to remove shorewall for good to make aMule work after each restart. It's still strange though......I mean I didn't have to do this before I upgraded. It's not a BIG problem to me, but I'm a kind of guy that wants to solve this kind of stuff. To learn. :-) havent we all been amateurs somehow ? hehe Best regards Ole
  8. HI ! Ok. I've replaced all the files except "group.conf", "kwritedrc" (which didn't have any file to replace with ?) and "qtrc" because the original file had a size of 957 and the .rpmnew file begins with a star, had a green color and had a size of 80 ??? (didn't dare...) Well, I'm sorry to tell you, I still got the same problem, except I got my old dekstop look again :-) I checked my firewall before I started aMule. It's turned off. I'm sure if I'll uncheck the first box in the firewall rules again, it'll work ! hmmm.... strange. Thanx ! Ole
  9. OK. Thanx ! I will give it a try. I'll post the result later Ole
  10. And then something happend, hehe ! 11. Hi again ! I've tried "updatedb -rpmnew" as root. It turned up like this: [ole@minlinuxboks ~]$ su Password: [root@minlinuxboks ole]# updatedb -rpmnew [root@minlinuxboks ole]#
  12. Hi again ! I did an upgrade by DVD (download version, ISO), and then I updated packages with urpmi autoselect (no verify) when all sources was updated, which took a while..... I didn't try aMule before the urpmi though..... thanx ! Ole
  13. Hi there ! Yeah, I've looked at that site, but isn't it strange though that the firewall wont stay off after reboot ? I've also forwarded the tcp ports in my router (as virtual server). It worked ok before.....? aMule worked fine with Mandriva 10.0 comm., 10.0 official, 10.1 official, but something happend after upgrading to 2005LE. :After reboot: starting aMule,LowID. Have to check the first box in my firewall settings- confirming - aMule = HighID. (I can then start and stop aMule as many times as I want still with HighID !....until I restart my computer....) :After reboot 2nd. time: starting aMule once again = LowID. Have to uncheck the first box in my firewall settings - confirming - aMule = HighID again. hmmm...... As I said; Didn't have to do this before the upgrade. Thanx ! Ole
  14. Hi ! My problem was first pointed to the aMule forum, but since I got a rather strange firewall behavior, I have to turn to this forum :-) Why do I have to check or uncheck the Mandriva firewall on/off each time I restart my computer to get high ID when using the aMule fileshare tool ? Once confirming the firewall settings (doesn't matter if I check or uncheck the first box in the firewall rules) I can start and shut down aMule as many times as I want, until I restart...... then I have to enter the Mandriva control center again and confirm the firewall settings (check or uncheck the box) and then I can run aMule with HighID again. Why ? (aMule wih lowID = behind a firewall = can't download) Thanx ! Ole
  15. HI ! After googleing around, I finnaly made my HP PSC1215 to print ! But I still got problems to make the scanner work using HPLIP. I've tried several tips on this site, and I know there are people who figured it out. It's just probably me :P Thanx !
  16. Hi again devries !! Nice organ :-) hehe Well. What can I tell..... It's all working now !!!!! I'm not sure how, but I took a look of what you mentioned about that midi selection but didn't know which one to import..... But after some browsing around wondering, I loaded my soundfonts into Qsynth (setup - soundfonts- open). Then after rebooting my whole linuxbox once, it all worked perfect !!!! So then I have to dive into the world of MIDI and see how it all work. Need to get me a keyboard as well, hehe ! Any suggestion ? Best regard
  17. Hi ! Thanx Devries ! I now got a little further in this project. I read the Rosegarden Tutorial and found out that only changing to ALSA audio driver in drakconf wasn't enough. My "kinfocenter" didnt' have the sound option, so I manually had to click "System - configuration - KDE - sound" and change to ALSA setting. Then, after downloading the soundfonts from the site devries mentioned, everything seems to be set. In Rosegarden I clicked; Configure Rosegarden - Sequencer, and the sequencer status displays now; MIDI OK, audio OK !!! :-) and I also set up the path to the soundfonts. Still, I can't get any sound when playback ?!?! Even when QJackctl, Qsynth and Rosegarden seems to be configuered right. There is one thing I've noticed that may have something to do with this, and that is the message I get from the detailed status under Sequencer in Rosegarden...... Rosegarden 4-0.9.9 - AlsaDriver - alsa-lib version 1.0.6 JackDriver::initialiseAudio - JACK sample rate = 44100Hz, buffer size = 2048 JackDriver::initialiseAudio - creating disk thread JackDriver::initialiseAudio - found 2 JACK physical outputs JackDriver::initialiseAudio - connecting from "rosegarden:master out L" to "alsa_pcm:playback_1" JackDriver::initialiseAudio - connecting from "rosegarden:master out R" to "alsa_pcm:playback_2" JackDriver::initialiseAudio - found 2 JACK physical inputs JackDriver::initialiseAudio - connecting from "alsa_pcm:capture_1" to "rosegarden:record in 1 L" JackDriver::initialiseAudio - connecting from "alsa_pcm:capture_2" to "rosegarden:record in 1 R" JackDriver::initialiseAudio - initialised JACK audio subsystem ALSA Client information: 129,0 - (FLUID Synth (qsynth1), Synth input port (qsynth1:0)) (WRITE ONLY) [ctype 1, ptype 1048576, cap 66] Creating device 0 in Play mode for connection 129:0 Synth input port (qsynth1:0) (write) Default device name for this device is MIDI soft synth Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" AlsaDriver::initialiseMidi - initialised MIDI subsystem Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" AlsaDriver::setPlausibleConnection: connection like 64:0 M Audio Audiophile 24/96 MPU-401 (duplex) requested for device 0 AlsaDriver::setPlausibleConnection: nothing suitable available Creating device 2 in Play mode -- no connection available Default device name for this device is Anonymous MIDI device 1 AlsaDriver::setPlausibleConnection: connection like 128:0 KAMix: qamix (write) requested for device 2 AlsaDriver::setPlausibleConnection: nothing suitable available Creating device 3 in Play mode -- no connection available Default device name for this device is Anonymous MIDI device 2 Creating device 4 in Play mode -- no connection available Default device name for this device is Anonymous MIDI device 3 Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" Current timer set to "PCM playback 0-0-0" Notice the underlined text: " 129,0 - (FLUID Synth (qsynth1), Synth input port (qsynth1:0)) (WRITE ONLY) [ctype 1, ptype 1048576, cap 66] " ?!?!?! Still WRITE ONLY ?!?! :deal: I think I followed the Rosegarden Tutorial pretty close, and got the same input/output messages when setting this up. I wont give this up now since I yet again got some step closer to target So please anyone (anyone means devries I think, hehe.....) Best regards
  18. Hey guys ! I now upgraded to Mandrake 10.1 Official since last time. It seems like I get a little bit longer in the Rosegarden project this time :-) Here's the deal: I was just browsing my system configuration when I noticed that I could choose between two audidrivers for my sound card ( I got the intel 810 standard AC '97 etc, onboard thing....) Go to "configure your computer" - Select hardware - Click on the name of the soundcard and "run config tool". At the top it says" Here you can choose between an alternative driver (eigther OSS or ALSA) for your soundcard. You card are now using ALSA "snd_intel8x0" driver. (Standard driver for your card is "i810_audio") So before I checked into this, my card had the OSS driver installed. I changed to the ALSA driver and I now can staret JACKctl without any errors. It now seems that Jack are up and running (hopefully, hehe). Then the next thing to start is "Qsynth" which I also got an error when starting because Jack wasn't loaded correctly. When starting Qsynth I get an error. I can't start Qsynth with eigther Alsa or Jack as audio driver. But when I choose "file" instead of those two (jack or alsa), Qsynth starts without any errors...? (start Qsynth, click "setup", click audio, change to "file"). When both Jack and Qsynth (with "file" as audiodriver in Qsynth) are loaded, I start Rosegarden. Rosegarden are also starting !!!! The only problem now is that I can't get any sound...... Under "configure Rosegarden", I clicked "sequencer" and and under "general", the sequencer displays; "MIDI OK, no audio" ???? Here is the full detailed status; Rosegarden 4-0.9.9 - AlsaDriver - alsa-lib version 1.0.6 JackDriver::initialiseAudio - JACK server not running ALSA Client information: 129,0 - (FLUID Synth (qsynth1), Synth input port (qsynth1:0)) (WRITE ONLY) [ctype 1, ptype 1048576, cap 66] Creating device 0 in Play mode for connection 129:0 Synth input port (qsynth1:0) (write) Default device name for this device is MIDI soft synth Current timer set to "system timer" AlsaDriver::initialiseMidi - initialised MIDI subsystem Current timer set to "system timer" Current timer set to "system timer" Current timer set to "system timer" AlsaDriver::setPlausibleConnection: connection like 64:0 M Audio Audiophile 24/96 MPU-401 (duplex) requested for device 0 AlsaDriver::setPlausibleConnection: nothing suitable available Creating device 1 in Play mode -- no connection available Default device name for this device is Anonymous MIDI device 1 AlsaDriver::setPlausibleConnection: connection like 128:0 KAMix: qamix (write) requested for device 1 AlsaDriver::setPlausibleConnection: nothing suitable available Creating device 2 in Play mode -- no connection available Default device name for this device is Anonymous MIDI device 2 Creating device 3 in Play mode -- no connection available Default device name for this device is Anonymous MIDI device 3 Current timer set to "system timer" Current timer set to "system timer" Current timer set to "system timer" Current timer set to "system timer" It still display Jack server not running !?! and why does Qsynth work only when selecting "file" as audio driver ? When choosing "Jack" as audio driver in Qsynth I still get this message; 11:35:52.396 qsynth1: Failed to create the audio driver (jack). Cannot continue without it. fluidsynth: error: Jack server not running? 11:35:53.952 qsynth1: Destroying synthesizer engine... 11:35:53.953 qsynth1: Synthesizer engine terminated. Thanx ! Best regards
  19. Hi ! It's been a couple of days now since I first postet this question, but I just want to add the soulution so far..... I got a tuner named "Dreambox" that runs with open source OS (a light version of linux I think), and I know several people got VLC to stream from the tuner to the pc. Well, I finally made this work without any tv adapter cards or anything. Only via TP LAN cable. The first problem was that my tuner had a software (image) that didn't support both audio/video, so I just upgraded the tuner with the right image. I then ran the script mentioned above, and VLC are now streaming great with both audio/video. In fact, I'm now watching the news while writing this reply B) I've also tried Mplayer, but can't manage to make it work properly..... It all runs well in a couple of minutes before things starting to go slower and slower......until it all stops. Anyone got a clue why ? I thought maybe there are some commands that I need to run ? Thanx ! Best regards
  20. HI ! I get this message: "The program soundserver (artsd) crashed and gave the signal 6 (SIGABRT)", when booting KDE. I think the problem came after some upgrades of my KDE apps and stuff...(URPMI). This is the log: (no debugging symbols found)...Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". 21. Do you have "dri" enabled ? type "glxinfo" to find out Mine looks like this (using Xorg 6.7.0 with hardware 3D) [ole@minlinuxboks ole]$ glxinfo name of display: :0.0 disabling TCL support display: :0 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes
  22. thanx for the reply Yeah, I know there are many solution to this, but I know it's possible to stream, record, watch tv with just some simple commands without the extra cards. Only via Lan. Some examples are; lynx -auth=root:dreambox -dump http://192.168.1.110/cgi-bin/streaminfo > stream.info PMT=$(cat stream.info | grep PMT | cut -d : -f2 | cut -d 0 -f2) VPID=$(cat stream.info | grep VPID | cut -d : -f2 | cut -d "(" -f1 | cut -b15-19 ) APID=$(cat stream.info | grep APID | cut -d : -f2 | cut -d "(" -f1 | cut -b15-18 ) vlc "http://192.168.1.110:31338/"$VPID","$APID or just: http://dreambox_ip/cgi-bin/streaminfo Name: Discovery Provider: Telenor Service reference: 1:0:1:196:4:46:fff60000:0:0:0: VPID: 0384h (900d) APID: 0385h (901d) PCRPID: 0384h (900d) TPID: 012dh (301d) TSID: 0004h ONID: 0046h SID: 0196h PMT: 0025h Video Format: 544x576 (4:3) and then: mplayer -dumpstream -dumpfile test.mpg http://dreamboxip:31339/0,PMT,VPID,APID or just to watch: mplayer http://192.168.0.19:31339/0,25,384,385 I was nearly makeing this work with kaffeine, but when kaffeine was buffering, nothing happend. I thought maybe there was some network configuration to be done or some other commands ? I'm very pleased if somebody got som great links to stuff like this. Or someone who knows something about HOW TO  thanx
  23. Hi ! I got a Sat tuner based upon GPL (Linux), and want to know more about connecting my Linuxbox to the sat tuner for audio/video streaming. I know there are several progs. for this in Windows like: Tuxvision, dreamTV and so on. Is there anyone who know something about this or where to get some more info ? Thanx ! Best regards Ole
  24. So the question is now: - Why do i get the "Could not open ALSA sequencer as a client. MIDI patchbay will be not available.", when opening QJackCTL ? - Why Qsynth wont recognize eighter Jack or Alsa-seq drivers ? ???????????????????????????????? And uh...I forgot to ask....... anyone got Rosegarden up and running in Mandrake at all ?
  25. Hi again ! Then I got this message in console; - "[ole@minlinuxboks ole]$ su Password: [root@minlinuxboks ole]# qjackctl & [1] 7894 [root@minlinuxboks ole]# Warning: no locale found: /usr/share/locale/qjackctl_nb_NO.qm And a window in KDE displaying: - "Could not open ALSA sequencer as a client: midi patchbay will not be available." (as before) And a message from Jack Audio: - "20:00:11.062 Statistics reset. 20:00:11.135 Could not open ALSA sequencer as a client. MIDI patchbay will be not available. ALSA lib seq_hw.c:446:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file or directory JACK compiled with System V SHM support" It seems like there is some paths or user permissions that are set wrong ? Something tells me that "ALSA sequencer" seems like a high prioity to make working.....
