  1. ah I see! :( Just checking but you do have pcmciautils installed for your Aironet 350 card? If not as root 'urpmi pcmciautils' should suffice as long as you have the repo's setup
  2. I believe the internal wireless is supported via ndiswrapper. As root in the terminal run the command lspci & if you see the following 0000:02:02.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94306 802.11g (rev 03) you can use your windows driver (bcmwl5a.inf) along with ndiswrapper. I suggest that you search for 'bcmwl5a' which should help I also came across this link http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawi...hp/Installation which will enlighten you further. Any problems after that then please post... As for your Cisco card - not sure myself HTH
  3. Hey, if your using KDE - right-click on your start menu (far left bottom) then choose 'menu editor' HTH
  4. :) Actually I was suggesting to change it to 127.0.0.1, as to allow the localhost access
  5. Hey, not a guru by any means but I noticed straight away that you have hosts allow = 192.168.1.100 192.168.1.103 127. is this a typo or have you missed the rest of the 127. > 0.0.1? I would also create the same named user on both PC's ie: user/Vista user/Mandy. What errors are you getting? Can you ping both ways? more details may help :) Also - Have you tried webmin http://www.webmin.com/ (urpmi webmin) & from Konqueror smb://vista-ip
  6. funny enough I updated Firefox yesterday & only Firefox. When I restarted thunderbird I had the exact same error. Googling only brought a few ideas which I tried with no luck (deleting the cert8.db file from within the profile seemed the most appropiate of the suggestions - which did not help). After messing around for a couple of hours I decided to d/l Thunderbird 2.0 beta & try with that. Guess what after unpacking the tar in my home folder & running ./thunderbird it located my profile updated a few addons & then opened up without errors. I only use SSL with Gmail so I tried to send-receive with Gmail & all is working (even got GB dictionary working!!) My guess is that Mozilla have changed something in Firefox 1.5.0.10 & this will be corrected with the next thunderbird update - my guess anyways... So maybe give the beta a go for now?
  7. Hey, the error you gave - that's not the exact error is it? I ask cos on my box the path is /lib/modules/2.6.17-5mdv/kernel/3rdparty/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko.gz with the following attributes -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 81305 Sep 13 19:33 ndiswrapper.ko.gz
  8. lol 'practice makes perfect' as they say :P
  9. or, at least in mdv207, type 'kcmshell componentchooser' to get directly to the Component Chooser. :P oh just so many choices :P
  10. or .... in a terminal type kcontrol which will get you to the 'KDE Control Center'
  11. lol good for you - never was a fan of Orange Very nice - cheers
  12. nice .. I wonder what colour you'll pick for Mandriva? ;)
  13. seems a bit of a mess - I found this site which may enlightnen you a little http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html which includes a gspcav1-20070110.tar.gz file along with other various bits of info...
  14. Did you try the command insmod spca5xx (as root)?
  15. Hey, not sure but a quick google may help - check the 1st link - export LC_ALL= may help
  16. just butting in ere' until artee continues - yes I believe he does mean driver. So you use the spca5xx module ok. When you boot into your new kernel can you do a lsmod as root in the CLI (Terminal) & see if the spca5xx is listed. If it is try a rmmod spca5xx (which will unload it) then insmod spca5xx (which will reload it) & see how you go from there. If the spca5xx module isn't listed just do a insmod spca5xx Unfortuately I use 'pwc' so I can't be precise but see how you go.. HTH
  17. hmm.. could you as root in a terminal run the following command touch /etc/asound.state then reboot & see if that helps
  18. What I normally do first is rename the /etc/asound.state then reboot (tried just relogging in but this didn't work for me). Once logged in a new asound.state should be auto generated & I then have sound. The only time this happens to me is when my system freezes up & I have to switch the power off/on. HTH
  19. Yeah good point! I run a dual monitor setup (seperate desktops) & the screenie I posted is the secondary one. Don't really like icons, folders, files all over the desktop (we have a file system - so file them :) ) Anyway... it's Mandriva 2007 - KDE 3.5.4 - superkaramba - taskbar hidden & when visible the icons fill the blank squares at the top..
  20. But still the same old weather in Manchester! :P lol.. if you know that then you'll also know the saying we have here "it never rains in Manchester, ... just pours" ;)
  21. Another month, another year .. another desktop :P
  22. Yeah I noticed on Distrowatch that DreamLinux had a new version out (just d'lding now). I've gotta say it looks nice, easy, & seems to be quite fast reading from the review on distrowatch...well I'll soon find out :)
  23. Hi, Lokking at your ifcfg-wlan0 file you don't seem to have 'GATEWAY=192.168.x.1' but instead you have 'NETWORK=192.168.x.0' Maybe! try hashing out the '#NETWORK=192.168.x.0' & beneath that add 'GATEWAY=192.168.x.1' the restart your wlan0 & see how that goes... HTH
  24. I take it that you have tried to run it in the CLI & still have issues? If so maybe! try renaming the /home/USER/.kde/share/config/arcrc & try again HTH
