  1. The reinstall didn't work either still get same error when trying to load glxgears....
  2. Yep I'm sure I got an Nvidia card. I changed nv to nvidia also. I checked for the file and this is where its located /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.6111 /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so I used to .run file for the driver. If no one knows how to fix it I will try again. Uninstall the current drivers first right?
  3. try to load it that way and this is what it said Segmentation fault How do I check to see if I have libglx.so? Sorry but I'm a total newb at Linux. :P

When I type glxgears in the console this is what I get. Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual Also if I type glxinfo in the console I get this name of display: :0.0 Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual visual x bf lv rg d st colorbuffer ax dp st accumbuffer ms cav id dep cl sp sz l ci b ro r g b a bf th cl r g b a ns b eat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Segmentation fault Anyone know what causing this? I think this is the problem behind why Enemy Territory can't start. My graphics card is a geforce 4 440.
  6. it is already in. I followed the faq from here to install the drivers. And it was already under the Module.

  8. Installed Enemy Territory today. Install went fine. When you click on the icon in the kde menu it dosen't do anything at all. I am new to Mandrake so maybe something I didn't do something right. right...
  9. Thxs that did the trick. I'm pretty sure it installed right because the Nvidia splash screen loads up upon boot now. Anyone else have the Lilo boot loader report false viruses in your bios before? I was using it but it sometimees it claimed there was a virus in my bios then other times when I booted it didn't say anything. I'm using grub right now since. It hasn't said anything about a virus while using it.
  10. I don't think its native. But I could be wrong. I'm trying to install the Nvidia drivers and I'll get to root and type in the command but it tells me to exit x. Exactly what is X? And how do I exit it.
  11. That is exactly what I did. Using Mandrake right now. Love it so far. It detected my printer. I was shocked by that because I had to search all over the internet for the driver for Windows Xp. Right now just having fun to see what all I can do. Reading guides about Mandrake etc. It seems very easy to use. I haven't got lost yet. I couldn't beleive how quicly it installed. Took about 15 minutes not including input from me. Windows takes atleast 30 if its not 2000 or Xp. So far so good!
  12. Yep, I was using bittorent. Then I went and downloaded getright before I downloaded Mandrake again. I have 35 mintues left on mandrake now. Hope I'm not getting in over my head trying Linux. I won't give up on it though. Either way atleast it can't be any worse then Windows Me.
  13. After a long move for our old house, I decided to do a clean install of Xp. I formatted my hardrive then found out my XP cd broke in the move. Now I was stuck with my only other os which is Windows (crappy) ME. Ran fine for an hour. It made me realize how bloated Xp was. Then I start getting explorer errors, over and over and over and.... well you get the point. Had to type this twice because of explorer errors crashing my browser. Also had 22 minutes left on my Mandrake download but got a kernal error and crash the whole pc so I had to restart that download . Windows Me sucks. The sercurity(sp) in all MS products suck. I thought about switching to Linux about 4 months back but didn't because of the poor native game support. The I realized. Then only game I have payed for is Battlefield. The other two I play is America's Army and Enemy Territory. They have native support in linux right? At least I think they do. I will dual boot with Windows Me for gaming only. And I doubt I will do it much. Since I play battlefield like once a week. Once Gaming companys wise up and not everyone is on Windows and start making games for linux also. Windows won't be on my hardrive. Downloading Mandrake again..... 3 hours left. I pray my system dosen't crash and loose my download. I'm sure, I'll be back with question about Mandrake. Hopefully not to many. Just have to get the Windows way of doing things out of my head.
