  1. I don't know in which of the forums I should put this so....

    1. How do I make a specific program default? Like I got two web browser installed: Konqueror and Firefox or two music player Totem and Xmms. How do I setup mandrake so it choose the one I prefer?

    2. How do I set Eterm to be in the background while using it (so it doesn't comes in front of other windows) I'm looking for a script for to the commando when I want to start Eterm. (it's transparent without buttonbar and scrollbar).

    3. Another Eterm and/or general for other program question: Is it possible to make a program not showing up in the "work bar"?

    4. I'm experience that I can't hear music from my CD-rom, only if the music are on the harddisc, what next?

    Background: KDE on Linux 10.0

I've been searching for these questions on the forum without luck so I posting my questions in one to spare for mass posting.

Any help or tips are appriciated highly.

    Thanks

  3. How do I add that it should 'keep under other' option so it becomes'one' with the background?

Is it possible to change the degree on the transparent?

    Thanks

I'm not sure I understand the first part of that question, but as for the second: you can use the --tint switch. From the Eterm manpage:

I'll try to rephrase it then ;)

When Eterm is active it still need to be in the background while using it.

I hope I explained myself or I just try again :D

  4. I don't know if this is the right place for this topic....but here we go

My Firefox and Konqueror is behaving weird, this morning when I turned on my computer all my bookmarks was vanished!!!

Any logical explaination for such behavior? My security settings are set to normal and I havn't any crash or "wrong" shut downs.

  7. TELETUBBIES???? Crap, it does kinda look like the Teletubby hill doesn't it?

    yupp....

    lala winky winky!... :woot_jump:

That would explain why my little girl suddenly wants to play with my computer :D

Thanks Darkelve, I pulled my avatar off of a wallpaper I found on DA a few months ago. Hadn't checked recently.

    it's "Tinky Winky" :P

Sure, even the teletubbies are using Linux. Their distr. is called Tubby-ware :tm:

  8. Well, I made a new clean install of Mandrake 10.0...it went well as usual (happens when you mess up things to much like I do, love to try out stuff). But when I had downloaded and installed Firefox 0.9.3 and thunderbird 0.7.3 they wouldn't startup while clicking the links nor when I did into /usr/bin and clicked them. This I've experienced all the time with thunderbird 0.7.3 and normally used v. 0.5.x but it was first time I've experienced it with firefox 0.9.3. My first thought was: "Shit!". I've done my installation as I usually do and downloaded firefox and thunder from NORLUG-10 as Urmpi as usual.

So I opened up the consol logged in as root, ran the firefox and thunderbird from there and wwwooopti!!!! It now works both of them, alsoo the link on the desktop seems now to function :)

  9. I'm just started on learning Gimp and I'll give it a try, also I'm gonna check out the crossover program(s)

Gimp 2 need a better interface, but that could be implemented in Gimp3 (to that time)

    PSP8 prize from $89-99

photo shop ~$450 (as I recall it)

    Gimp - Free :D !!!

The reason why I invested in PSP8 instead of photo shop was they are allmost identically when it comes to 'making graphic'.

  10. You just missing one point. You can download and burn the the diffrent mandrake version with the Club membership (gold - powerpack+, silver - powerpack, bronze - discovery). So people like me can get powerpack right away, downloading, burning and installing...with an instant. Ofcause it require a good connection and a burner. But again I could wait a week waiting for the mail man.

I started with the "free download"- version and when I saw it was something I could use, I paid for the club membership. Easy and painless :)

    .:=The AI Dude=:.

  11. Okay, in the past few days I've been looking for which one to choose and been on both web sites (superkaramba and gdesklets that is) but have a bit difficult to see the diffrence between them

I read somewhere on this board that gdesklets can run on both KDE and Gnome and Superkaramba only on a KDE desktop. I'm a KDE user so Superkaramba would be easiest to install? Also I've checked that gdesklets require alot of files I have to download before I can get it to work on KDE. But again I've seen alot of cool screenshots of what gDesklets can do.

So the buttom line is: what's the diffrence between the two?

  12. I did the same as feralertx. I paid a year silver subscribtion after I tried the "free" download of Mandrake 10.0 and with silver membership I could/can download Powerpack and burn them down as iso's (already done :) )

  13. Guess what I've been doing tonight

I'm too scared to go to bed... might have horrible nightmares. When I started playing games many years ago, I never expected that we'd get to a stage where a game can be so... captivating.

    Today I love Cedega. Checkit:post-536-1093213201_thumb.jpg

What kind of program is running on the desktop? The one on the left middle and upper middle.

    Thanks.
