  1. I read in other threads that people also have problem with driver 6111 and mandrake beta version. Perhaps you should go for the stable version of 10.

though you should reconsidering the suggestion I mentioned in my post earlier, it worked for me, perhaps it will work for you :)

  2. Try with:

    sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run --add-this-kernel (If it's nvidia driver 6111)

a new file will appear called:

    NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1custom.run (or something like that)

  3. Hi there people :)

I'm considering upgrading my mdk 10.0 to 10.1.

My question is: If I've drivers and programs running on 10.0 that's newer than the drivers and programs on 10.1 will 10.1 override them? (eg. I'm running Xorg 6.8 on my 10.0 and the Xorg on 10.1 is 6.7)

Edit: Oops! wrong forum, can someone please move this one to the right forum, please :)

  4. Hi worf :)

You don't need the 4. CD. When Mandrake installer ask for it press <esc>.

60gb is just fine, I'm myself are using 60gb to Mandrake and 20 gb to WinXP Pro.

On Mandrake home page is a list of hardware that Mandrake is supporting. (I can't remember where exactly)

  5. Is it worth the aford to upgrading from 10.0 to 10.1? Would it be better to wait for 10.2?

What the show in the article it seems sparse with new/updated stuff.

Though I hoped for KDE 3.3 to be included also Xorg 6.8.

It would be nice if someone could give some feedback how they feel the diffrences between 10.0 and 10.1

  6. I was able to install Nvidia 6111 with 'sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6111-pkg1.run --add-this-kernel' command. So far so good.

Now I've struggling with xf86-config-4 for 2 hours and I need some help.

    This is what I did:

    Init 3

    su

    vi etc/x11/xf86-config-4

when the screen turns up it full of:

    ~

    ~

    ~

    ~

    ~

    ~

    ~

    ~

no text or what so ever.

    what now?
