Tonight i gave it another try, adding PLF-repositories through EasyUrpmi.
Whereas i could not realise this since the earlier Mandriva updates, it seems all is back in order.
This is no guarantee for probable other issues connected to the earlier mentioned update.
But i think main problems are solved right now.
Up to the 22nd of December, the release of Mandriva 2010.2!!!!!!

Problems also concern PowerPack-users.
This message in Bugzilla just appeared:
-------- Comment #10 From Scott Karns on 2010-12-19 16:59:03 CEST --------It would appear that this bug may also affect users who recently installed or
upgraded to 2010.1 PWP when they try to add the restricted medium. I upgraded
my machine that was running 2010.1 Free to 2010.1 PWP yesterday evening,
2010/12/18 (UTC - 7). I tried to add the restricted medium when the mdkonline
popup announced its availability, which failed. Checking the logs, I see this:
Dec 19 08:43:28 roadie mdkapplet[5859]: running: mdkapplet-add-media-helper
2010.2
I tried again with /etc/product.id.Powerpack and /etc/mandriva-release (symlink
targets for /etc/product.id and /etc/release respectively) modified per comment
#3, but that did not help.

Problems concerning Mandriva-repositories for 2010.2 seem to be solved.
This is still not the case for the PLF-repositories as shown in the following
reaction in Bugzilla.
-------- Comment #9 From David W. Hodgins on 2010-12-18 22:15:38 CEST --------Using strace, I've determined that the version used for all of the mirrors
except
PLF is the version number from /etc/product.id.
For the PLF mirrors, it uses the version from /etc/release.
As the directories for 2010.2 now exist for the repositories other then PLF,
it's now safe to change /etc/product.id back to 2010.2.
The PLF directories for 2010.2 do not yet exist (Sat Dec 18 21:14:39 UTC 2010)
so /etc/release should be kept at 2010.1, until they are created.

Latest addition in Bugzilla concerning urpmi-issue:
-------- Comment #5 From Margot on 2010-12-18 12:59:42 CEST --------
Unfortunately, simply changing the files mentioned in comment #3 did not
resolve the urpmi problem for me - I had to delete all my urpmi media and then
replace them.
Easy enough for someone who has a few years of experience with Mandriva, knows
how to find and use easyurpmi, and who reads the cooker list and so is aware of
the problem, but I wonder if newbies who got this mistaken update will
understand what has happened and what to do to put it right?

Reaction from Mandriva-team-member doesn't really make me feel better, as to be found on the cooker mailing-list:

Likely someone who wanted to change cosmetics issues without
really realizing how much this will impact the distro.
For example, the lsb tools also depend on it, and so may others
part of the stack.
AFAIK, 2010.2 is just 2010.1 + updates + new wallpaper, I do not
really think this warrant a new release.
( and so, I think changing the release name is a cheap marketing trick, with
unfortunate consequence :/ )

Want to warn all, that the latest updates to 2010.1 breaks the package-manager. See Bugzilla!
There is a workaround described, but warranties cannot be given.

By "setting executable flag" you mean "chmod +x"?
-
"Integration of Mandriva configuration tools into KDE control center"
Anyone have an opinion on that proposed change?
For me Mandriva is especially MCC.
The place to be to configure the system.
I always reckoned MCC the heart of Mandriva.
Would miss it handling configuration, and making choice for another distro easier.
-
All the recent changes/problems were a showstopper for me (my wife actually) stopping use of once so much loved KMail.
Now she is handling her electronic mail through Thunderbird, and i never hear any complaints anymore, for where it concerns e-mail that is ;-).

AussieJohn exactly tells what i would have said about this plan.
Hope we all have good times ahead with the Mageia-guys and girls.

A really critical bug, when you ask me.

Oh and by the way, the post from darshin should be almost considered spam since he posted it on loads of Linux forums all over the net:

Exactly that!!!

Used about the same routine as AussieJohn a couple of weeks ago, and it works fine.
Went into the Downloads-directory and issued chmod +x GoogleEarthLinux.bin, and after that ./GoogleEarthLinux.bin

Thanks! but how do you know this stuff? in mandy's page they used a "strikethrough" font where it says june and wrote beside july without an exact day...
By the time i answered your question, it was mentioned by Anne Nicolas (Mandriva SA).
That on the Mandriva Cooker Mailinglist at 11:20 this morning local time.
Now you can find releasedate at:
-
I'm still waiting for the release, the page stated "june 2010" what happened w/ the 2010.1 release? Does anybody knows?
Mandriva Spring (2010.1) will be released at July 8th.
-
Then i would suggest Lindora - fits like Isadora.
-
No 64-bit 10.1, you have to use either nspluginwrapper or gnash.
Thanks scarecrow, that makes me stay with version 10.0.45.2.
