  1. Yes I have. It is only a minor annoyance as this is a desktop computer and I do not watch movies on it. I prefer to watch movies on my laptop and it is working fine B)
  2. I glad it worked for you SilverSurfer60. Sadly, it did not help me.
  3. I am having the same problem with 2010.1. The fix suggested here did not work. http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-216747.htm%0Al what to do?
  4. JohnM: Welcome aboard! The post you are responding to was made in 2004. A reponse is unlikely.
  5. I run KDE on my netbook, and I have been surprised how snappy it is. I did turn off compiz. The initial OS on the netbook was XP, which was painfully sluggish.
  6. I have an older Asus Eee 901 netbook with Mandriva 2010. The netbook kernel is installed and I use KDE. Watching streamed movies works just fine. Email and internet browsing good too. The display manager is plenty snappy, especially when compared to the original XP install. Small keyboard is awkward for me.
  7. Well I am about to open a bottle of red wine myself.
  8. Mandriva 2011 beta 1 released. See Mandriva Blog.
  9. Things have been quiet around here
  10. I have noticed this myself but never looked into it. I assume it is a feature that I don't understand.
  11. You could add one of these commands to /etc/rc.local xset dpms 0 360 420 disables DPMS standby and sets the DPMS suspend time to 360 seconds and the off time to 420 seconds xset -dpms turns off screen power management xset s off turns off the screensaver.
  12. Try installing the gftp version from the Mandriva 2008.1 repositories. If you want to (easily) install the latest and greatest gftp, then you need a more recent version of Mandriva.

    Great link isadora. Thanks!
  14. You need to be running a 64 bit kernel. Try running a 64 bit desktop kernel instead of the server kernel you have now.

OK. So maybe I was taking things too seriously. Rocky Horror Picture Show !!
  16. A labeling mistake. 2010.2 is simply an up to date 2010.1 Have a look here for details: https://mandrivausers.org/index.php?/topic/107127-warning/page__p__693405__hl__urpmi__fromsearch__1#entry693405
  17. A bios update would be downloaded from the website of the motherboard manufacturer. It usually is used in conjunction with a DOS boot disk. I have done a fair number of bios flashes in my time, but you should be aware that errors do happen and when they do the motherboard could be broken by this process. Not for the faint of heart!
  18. Tools System Tools Configure Your Computer Security Configure System Security Security Settings Are you set at "standard"?

Well I was being sincere. There have been issues in the past between Ixthusdan and this board but I felt his comments on this thread were well intentioned.
  20. Did your 2010.2 install come with the Google Chromium browser? Does this browser give similar problems? For Firefox the cookies settings are at: Privacy Use Custom Settings for History
