As m10 said, you can use alien to convert between .deb files and .rpm files. As scarecrow said it is not advised. Do a google search to find more details on the linux package (program) alien.

I have been using audiokonverter for some time with my Mandriva 2010.2 system. It recently is giving me problems. If I try to extract an ogg audio file from an mp4 video I get this error:

Any suggestions?

to make it permanent you could add the command to /etc/rc.d/rc.local

I use xset dpms 0 360 420

this command disables DPMS standby and sets the DPMS suspend time to 360 seconds and the off time to 420 seconds

Do you have another IDE cable you could try?

Are there more than one IDE slots you can plug into? May the slot you are trying is bad.

Try plugging and unplugging several times into the IDE slot to ensure a good connection.

I would clear the CMOS on the new motherboard to return it to its default settings, then retry. There will be a jumper on the board to achieve this (you will need the manual to locate the jumper). Alternately, remove the battery from the motherboard and wait 5 minutes with the power supply unplugged. Either way you have the motherboard returned to its default state which is where you want to start.

If you want this to allow you to boot off of a DVD, then you need to keep the cable as you currently have them and instead change the boot sequence in the BIOS.
