  12. Well, in your case, the Vendor is Maxtor(the one who sells your HD) what is your original language, maybe we can translate?
  13. thx :) Don't think you should use FAT32 if you wanna install it not as first partition, something with 1024 cylinder? anyway made a guide out of it http://mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtop...=0entry145846
  14. no, only thing I found was reverse, installing mandrake next to XP :)
  15. Ok, this is a guide, for if you want to install back Windows XP but keep your current Mandrake installation. What do you need? Windows XP installation CD :p Mandrake Installation CD Eventually a live cd Like Mandrake move Diskdrake(or any similar partition program) Without Live CD You don't need the live cd, but it depends on which partition you want to resize for making free space for XP. I resized my /home partition, without using live cd. Launch a terminal, and go to root mode, and type init 3 This ends your graphical session, and goes to console. Make sure your logged in as a root, and unmount the partition you want to resize( in this case /home) Now you have some free unpartioned space, which you can use to install XP. Reboot your computer and insert Windows XP cd, to start the installation. When it asks you for partition, create a partition in the free space(NTFS!(other partitions will be marked unknown). It says something about XP & dualbooting, but that are worry's for later, just install XP like you always do :). When installation is finished don't be scared, cause it will boot XP auto(your lilo is gone, thats why you need Mandrake installation cd). When everything is configged in Windows, reboot your computer with your Mandrake installation cd inserted. When it boots, press F1 for more choises, type rescue now it will launch a ncursed? screen, where you can restore your lilo config. When you reboot, it will launch mandrake again, and then you just have to add Windows XP in your bootloader config(manual or through Drakxboot). Now, you have a working dual boot system Please use this guide at your own risk, report mistakes to me, so I can correct them, make sure if you don't trust it, that you have backups
  16. why is it irritating? you don't have to push it?
  17. yea and close the topic please, it won't work, f*cked up partitions, needed format so I never ever want XP :P
  18. now, if you would read it carefully :P you should know that I don't have windows XP installed ;) and I have to install it , but I don't wanna lose my current mandrake system... Yea I know, why do you need XP, well, my scanner doesn't work in Mandrake, and I think it never will so I XP just for scanner and photoshop probarly
  19. I guess I have to resize my home partition and move it at the beginning, from a live cd, but how should I do this?
  20. This is my current configuration: HDA: 3 partitions / (10gig) swap (1gig) /home (65 gig) HDB: / (2gig) swap (0.5gig) /home (3.6 gig) I want to 'insert' Windows XP into this config, how should I best do this without losing any data?
