  1. I think you'd better reinstall. Winblows is very sensible. A massive hardware change like yours probably killed the poor crap. :D If you don't do defrag, scan disk, registry cleaning once a week it's performance goes down in 4-5 months or less depending on your activity. I have to format the winblows partition about 3 times/year because it's performance simply keeps dropping from the moment it has been installed. So, backup your stuff and go for it. :)
  2. Has anybody managed to perfectly emulate the Mac OS X theme on Gnome or KDE ? If so can you please tell me where can I get the it ? I've notived the Aqua and RPanther themes for Gnome -- they aren't enough to recreate the OSX desktop, the OSX icons for KDE and of course the Aqua wallpaper. I'd like my desktop to look like a OS X one.
  3. Null. I managed to fix this myself. I made a stupid mistake.
  4. We are getting closer. I removed all the nitro stuff from /boot all it's modules, etc but I kept the nitro patch and 2.6.9 source for later use :P . I reinstalled the 2.6.8.1-20 sources and managed to build the NVIDIA kernel. Even so I have no hw acceleration. I don't know why. Look at the logs: NVIDIA log: Using: nvidia-installer ncurses user interface -> License accepted. -> There appears to already be a driver installed on your system (version: 1.0- 6629). 7. OK now I'm in trouble. I finally managed to compile the kernel but it sucks. I didn't notice any performance increase. It wasn't able to use the nvidia driver nor the NIC. So I decided to go back to the old mdk kernel but now I can't build the nvidia driver because I get this error: Using: nvidia-installer ncurses user interface -> License accepted. -> There appears to already be a driver installed on your system (version: 1.0- 6629). As part of installing this driver (version: 1.0-6629), the existing driver will be uninstalled. Are you sure you want to continue? If you specified a separate output directory using either the "KBUILD_OUTPUT" or the "O" KBUILD parameter, make sure to specify this directory with the SYSOUT environment variable or with the appropriate nvidia-installer command line option. ERROR: Installation has failed. Please see the file '/var/log/nvidia-installer.log' for details. You may find suggestions on fixing installation problems in the README available on the Linux driver download page at www.nvidia.com.
  8. Nope. I'll delete everything and make a new clean start cuz I made some mistakes.
  9. 10.1 is a stable version IMHO. You can transform your install into 10.1 OE by using one of the Mandrake mirrors. Go to easyurpmi.zarb.org, set up your mirrors and then run: urpmi --auto --auto-select in a console. Anyway I recommend you get the 10.1 OE download version.

  11. Thank God some politicians have brains ..... I thought it was the end of decent IT technology in Europe.

    Gnome 2.8.2

    aaa, nothing.
  13. a13x

    Gnome 2.8.2

Yeah it's partly my fault but how was I supposed to know they would screw the menu so bad ??
  14. Will this mean the end of Linux in Europe ? If so, Mandrakelinux will disappear. Bastards!!!
  15. X definitely works because I've tested it locally and managed to start an IceWM session. Now we have to concentrate on exporting the X session.
  16. This Nitro patch looks interesting.... I've been thinking lately about compiling my own kernel but I haven't had time. Is it possible to patch the MDK kernel source with the nitro patch ? I mean, I want to have the same kernel features that the MDK kernel provided till now + the nitro ones.

    Gnome 2.8.2

Nope, I haven't found anything useful. Why did they have to make things so weird and complicated ???
  18. As I've said the world is full of morons and those that rule us are total retards. I believe those retards that form the EU Parliament are sadistic. They would just love to get 0\/\/n3d and then have to reinstall winblows.
  19. a13x

    Gnome 2.8.2

Of course :D That was among the first thing I tried.
  20. There are many ways to bypass that. The easiest way is to remove the battery of the mobo, or you can discharge an EMP near it (don't laugh it has already been done by someone --not me) but that is dangerous since it might ruin it. Another method, I don't know if it works on your lappy is to disconect the HD from the rest of the machine and it will automatically boot the floppy or the cdrom.
  21. a13x

    Gnome 2.8.2

Well ?? How do I remove that without having to reinstall Gnome ? There must be a way ....
  22. OK, take your time, I'm not in a hurry. To sum up in one sentence what I'm trying to do: connect to the Server's dektop from my Client computer. :D
  23. Ok, now I'm totally confused  I have the feeling that it works too but please tell me step by step how to do it and be very clear. We will be refering to my PC as the client and the PC I'm trying to connect as the server.
