  1. Good Wife! I was interested in Web Servers and I wanted to see how linux fared in that area. Since it was advertised as the best. So I bought Mandrake 10 community of ebay and gave it a whirl and I like'd it so much it became my DESKTOP! Then about 3 monts later I upgraded my hardware and Mandrake didn't support it well (buggy and crashing). So I tried Fedora Core 2 and here I am now. But I am very dissapointed with Yum ATM, I'm getting tons of errors.

    Ah sorry Dolson. I gotta wait awhile before buying another computer game. I've been spending too much money on them lately.
  4. Did you try it on odd ports? Most ISPS block webserver and mailserver ports like 80,21,25 and etc... Try an odd port like 10000, or something. I think that'd be your best bet.

    I tried it and the game was awesome. I just never find any servers sometimes. So I just gave up on the demo.
  6. I beleive theirs a tutorial on this in the faqs. I never got that raw script they had to work though.
  7. Maybe its a bad download or bad cd burn? BTW, feel free to try other distros, we all have (and should). But I must say a text install seems a lot simplier than running a gentoo install.

  11. I never used any of those. But I'm sure what they said is good. M$ money lol. THat'd be funny if that program automatically took 10 percent of your saving into their accound when you weren't looking.
  12. You edited that picture with the gimp? You made all your dockapps and workspaces merge and be transparent. Those are my 2 guesses.
  13. Yep sounds good. and for the newbs reading this here is the command you would do to copy the files and delete your old directory. cp /home/olduser /home/newuser && rmdir /home/olduser
  14. During the mandrake install if you select LSB and one of you package catergories. It'll automatically install the 2.4 kernel for you during the install. If you want to reconfigure your mouse, in the terminal type mousedrake.

  16. Get the download version and I guess if you really like it, buy it or try another distro. We can give you all the help you need right here.
  17. If you want it do look exactly like windows XP. http://www.xpde.com/ its a desktop environment designed to look exactly like Windows XP. You should look at the screenshots and it looks very similiar.
  18. Make sure you download a matching kernel-source and your lilo.conf is made right.
  19. If you use webmin its very easy to add a service. And You can modify the script it makes to support you Start/Stop arguements.
  20. I'm gonna try debian soon. I'm sure that post abt Debian Not so hard after all will help me alot. I'm actually downloading the 1st cd via jigdo. Which is a very clever program btw. Best of Luck, I would just try a flat debian install on Sarge. Sid might have more bugs.
  21. Ok thanks, I'll try uncommenting them. I think I'm also gonna try Debian soon. I do have no compliants with Fedora at the moment though. Everything is running so much smoother than in MDK.
