  1. Hmmm.. that went over apache and now I can't get it too start. I get the following errors. Btw: will webmin automatically check these new changes and know that the files got overwritten. Or do I have to do something else? Please be very newbie like, cause thats what I am :D.
  2. Their did the update, it seems to work besides the fact i think its installing packages i already got installed from earlier when I tried it with the GUI updater. Hmmm. I guess I'll just let overdo itself... It can do harm I guess and maybe I forgot something. lol
  3. Yo hablo y entiendo espanol, si? El es gordo porque no comio con el chicos rapidos.
  4. Both ports if thats possible. I am trying to do it with webmin so I can control the comp from far away. I am put a way more detailed description on their site when i figured out they would have a better answer. View Post
  5. Ok sounds good, I think I'll buy it
  6. Hmmm... After restarting the comp, that fixed the ftp problem, not I just gotta figure out the port 8000 thingy.
  7. Their... I fixed that problem by updating the webmin by using the update button. My problem is when I am configuring the Pro Ftp server using webmin and start the initial and allowed directories to only be /var/www/html, when I log on it still logs me on the the home directory which kinda confusing. I am also trying to get the webserver to work on port 8000, and when i make the virtual server for it and choose the same setting as the default server, except for t he port to be 8000, its not working. Maybe I am forgetting something. Btw, this webmin tool looks very promising and If I can figure this out, I'm never using IIS again. lol
  8. Thanks, Thats a sweet a program but it hard to configure apache, because thats set for apache 1 and i'm using apache2 so you have to change alot and its kind hard. Thanks, its really helpful. Is their any settings I should be aware about that would stop basic user fuctioning like a forum or ftp connections or something?
  9. When installing Mandrake Linux 10.0 Community, I selected the option for Apache Webserver. I also installed MySql so I could run basic databases. How do I configure Apache, its really confusing (I'm a former IIS user) and I don't know what pathfile to put my webpages in. Is their a package for phpmyadmin or something similiar. I need a easy way to comfigure MySql databases. Thanks, SwiftDeath
  10. Problems with the 2.6 kernel? How bad are they? What kinda things? Does mandrake 10.0 come with that kernel? I'll have to check if I have that certain motherboard. And overclocking, that is new to me, isn't that a really easy way to break your parts and very dangerous? How many of you have had success at overclocking? Wheres a good place to learn what and what not to do. Thanks, SwiftDeath
  11. I kinda partly started a new topic about the TI 4200 in the hardware section. So I can begin to try a good, descent gaming linux comp. Because I like the idea of free operating systems and not crashing capalities that windows doesn't have.
  12. This video card seems to offer a pretty good performance/price deal. I hear its pretty descent of graphics and running games, with a pretty descent price. Should I buy this card for gaming? I want to try and get a linux gaming machine. Would this be the one to buy? Does it work well with TV cards? Thanks, SwiftDeath
  13. Ok... I'll keep that to mind then when I buy my next video card? Which one would you remember that pretty descent and in the 40-70 bucks range for linux?
  14. What software should I use for this? I am a total newb so please don't expect to much from me. Is their a special driver somewhere for this I should ackwoledge? Any help, no matter how unusefull will be appreciated, thanks. BTW... I am running Gnome with a Radeon 7500 and a AMD 2000+ if that means anything.
  15. Boy I feel dumb... I was browsing the setting of the X server... and I didn't enable 3-d Hardware Acceleration. This fixes my problem with AA, but the graphics and really bad when you first get in, and when you try and start a game you can't see anything at all.... So I took your idea and added that DRI thing to the file, but that didn't help the graphics eitheir. I checked Savage and that game still doesn't work. I also downloaded RTCW: ET and the graphics and great and stuff but theirs some weird problems when joining teams.... You select a team, job, and weapon and press ok... and then it just forgets about it. LOL.... I am starting to think Linux isn't a good machine for gamers.
  16. How do I open the text editor from the terminal? I also installed Neverwinter Nights Gold and I unzip discs 2,3,4 but when I get to disc 1 the cd-rom can't seem to read the cd. I was following the instructions on the official NWN site and they didn't seem to have an answer.
  17. Also... I added the exact AA error messages and I'll add them here. Xlib: extension "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" missing on display ":0.0". Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
  18. Is urpmi already installed on my box? How do I get up my sources? (Pardon the extremely dumb question), How do I logout of x? I got my computer set to a graphical boot and last time I turned that off, I couldn't turn my computer on because I didn't know the command to start x free.
  19. So what do I do then to get my games to run?
  20. Does RPMDRAKE install all the updates? And their seems to be like 5 billion updates.... I don't know which one to install. Should I just install the ones it already has selected for me?
  21. I currently am running Mandrake 10.0 community. Am I missing out on anything by not switching to official? Is their a way just to upgrade from community to official? Is official any easier to use or support and run games better? Wheres a good fast free place to download official? Thanks, SwiftDeath
  22. Hmmm.... I went to the ATI site and looked at their drivers and they only supported Radeon 8500+ and newer. Heres the site: Driver Downloads
  23. No I didn't actually... When I first put in the card though it asked if i wanted 3d hardware acceleration and I put yes and the computer didn't boot properly so I reconfigured the graphics card and put no the next time. I will go look on their site for that right now. (btw... on graphics card, i went under vendor and chose radeon.)
  24. I currently am trying to play 3 games on a linux box and I can't get either 3 to work. 1. Medal Of Honor- I downloaded the Beta 2 installer from icculus but It gets about one 1/3rd done and then just stops and never continues. But still shows signs the comp didn't freeze. 2. Savage the Battle For Newerth Linux Demo- I try to start the game and I get a agp driver error. So I try to download a driver for sis... but it seems none exist. So I end up putting in a Radeon 7500 (which is better anyways) and then when I load the game its just grey and white like before but no error message. And you can't move around and stuff... just like with the agp driver error message. 3. Americas Army- I'm sorry I currently can't remember or check the exact error message but Its something about not being able to run 2 things. They show coordinates (0,0) on the side and I don't know if that means anything. --EDIT-- Below is the exact error I get in the terminal if I run the game from the terminal. Xlib: extension "XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD" missing on display ":0.0". Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0". --EDIT-- P.S. I have Mandrake Community 10.0 and I bought it for 5 bucks from some place. Then about a week later the 10,0 official came out. Am I missing out on anything? Should I try to buy it? It is the same exact thing with just a extra CD? Thanks, I am happy linux has a nice community like this to help me out, SwiftDeath
