  2. that is it... have anyone tried the new X.org 7RC ??? does it have any improvement over the ati driver? thanks to all P.S.: sorry if this post doesn't belong here moved to hardware by tyme
  3. Hi there!!! there was quite some time without visiting this site .... sorry and i need of your assistance.. my computer specs.. P4 2.4Ghz Biostar U8668-D motherboard 512MB spectek DDR400 Ati 9800 PRO BBA Mandrake 10.1 powerpack (a gift from a friend so i don't have an account to powerpack files on the net) the thing is... i'm using the default driver ati-3.14 (accelerated from powerpack), but i want to update the ati driver.. i have downloaded the rpm file and when i try to install it it gives me an error that conflicts with the libxorg-X11-6.8.1's libGL.so.1.2 file i have tried several approaches to this problem.. even have uninstalled libxorg-X11-6.8.1 and tried to install rpm again.. at home i dont have internet connection.. so i ask for your help... im posting this from a friend's house.. thanks to all.. Greetings ;)
  4. you have to modify the file: /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf (probably is somewhere else, but this address seems right to me ;) and remove tha # from this lines: #Addtype application/x-httpd-php .php #Addtype application/x-httpd-php-source .phps and it will look like this: Addtype application/x-httpd-php .php Addtype application/x-httpd-php-source .phps then save and exit after editing that file you have to restart yor apache daemon /etc/httpd/bin/apachectl stop /etc/httpd/bin/apachectl start apachectl may be at another location, be careful on that.. hope this helps you ;)
  5. excelent ;), i hope that my advise help you, and didn't arrive too late ;) Bye
  6. perhaps you should install win32-codecs-1.6-3plf.i586.rpm from plf, you can add plf as source with this line: (this is just an example you can choose from several servers at this link with easyurpmi: urpmi.addmedia plf ftp://ftp.free.fr/pub/Distributions_Linux/plf/mandrake/10.0 with hdlist.cz at the comand line as root... those codecs have all windows codecs.. and have it and doesn't have any problem with my wmv files :D Bye ;)
  7. have you tried diskdrake??? with this you can modify your partitions... as root obviously, because the partition must be unmounted to resize, then reboot to install windows XP, after you have installed windows XP, start with your CD1 from MDk, and repair your boot loader, restart to enter linux, modify your boot loader to include windows, load it into MBR, and the next restart you have windows at your menu :D and enjoy linux and windows greetings ;)
  8. perhaps you have to create a file named .asoundrc at your home dir.. with this in it : pcm.emu10k1 { type hw card 0 } ctl.emu10k1 { type hw card 0 } i hope this would help you..and maybe you should comment the lines for that other sound card.. fpr ypur modprobe.conf # alias sound-slot-1 es1371 alias eth0 3c59x alias sound-slot-0 snd-emu10k1 install snd-emu10k1 /sbin/modprobe --first-time --ignore-install snd-emu10k1 && { /sbin/modprobe snd-pcm-oss; /bin/true; } install usb-interface /sbin/modprobe usb-uhci; /bin/true remove snd-emu10k1 { /sbin/modprobe -r snd-pcm-oss; } ; /sbin/modprobe -r --first-time --ignore-remove snd-emu10k1
  9. next time it happens, just put your CD1 from MDK and press F1, then write rescue and it should appear a menu with several options, one of them is "Repair Boot loader" or something like it.. windows just step on the MBR, perhaps windows has an error while doing that, so there should be produced that error... another way to solve it (but it does not restore lilo) is to start your PC with a windows boot disk and in the command line write: fdisk /mbr (this should erase your MBR and load your active partition bootable) while your /, swap and other partitions doesnt change it's numbers (i.e hdb8) there shouldn't be any problem Greetings.. P.S.: if there is any mistake please be so kind to correct me ;)
  10. i have inserted those modprobes for my motherboard in this file: /etc/rc.local at the end i added all lines needed to load sensors... and never have any problem.. perhaps it's not an elegant solution but it works.. ;)

    Noob Needs Help

    this error have an explanation from ATI here ATI problem Solution in short, this error comes because you haven't installed your kernel source yet... to install your kernel source on a console type: urpmi kernel-source-2.6.3.7mdk (if that is your kernel version, to know your ernel version o a console type uname -a) or urpmi kernel-source bye, i hope this help you.. ;)
  15. my opinion, others may think different ;) i only have lilo, so i can't tell you how to do it whit another boot loader at the boot loader screen press ESC the at the ":" write single linux, being linux your name for linux, in my case it would be linux or 267-ck5 then press Return it should start your linux on maintenance mode, there you can modify your console perms, if you can't do this, use the mounting command line given by devries.. if you have another error message from missing type, write this.. mount -t auto /dev/hdX /mnt/hdX, or mount -t filesystem /dev/hdX /mnt/hdX, where filesystem could be ext2, ext3, xfs, reiserfs, etc.. i hope this could be of help ;)
