@ rldev- I've located an independently compiled and packaged 64-bit rpm for you. ffi is one of our members and aka appgorilla over at fourm.mandriva. He has made a working google-chrome-4.0.223.5r29485-0aap2010.0.x86_64.rpm and it's available here: 2shared.com/file/google-chrome He has shared this work with tarakbumba, the admin at the Mandriva Turkiye Forums. Here's the 64-bit repo urpmi.addmedia -v google64 http://dl.google.com/linux/rpm/stable/x86_64 however it doesn't contain a google-chrome rpm. AFAIK, there's not a 'working' 64-bit available from google code yet. You may find one somewhere that someone has independently compiled and packaged, I'm not sure.

If you must have the latest google-chrome, you need to add the repo. OK, then I suggest that you copy the lib included in the everest-linux archive cp libborqt-6.9-qt2.3.so /usr/lib/ now try again. :)

Try installing the libjpeg62 package from the repos, and see if that fixes it.

It's used for crypto. Do you have a wireless network card that might be using it, or an encrypted filesystem? If you have neither of these, you could blacklist the module.

Yes, (IMO) a memory upgrade will be cost effective. As tux has already noted, make sure you know exactly what memory you need, speed, single-bank or double-bank, etc.

According to HP's specs here: hp.com/products/quickspecs/#Memory Your laptop was 'probably' sold with 512 MBs of RAM. You 'probably' have an ATI RADEON XPRESS 200M Chipset that is sharing some of that RAM. I would suggest that you enter the BIOS setup and reduce the shared memory of your 200M Chipset. This would give you a bit more system RAM. If you still have problems with using Gnome, you may want to try using the LXDE desktop, it's in the repos. Alternatively and if you can afford it, you could install some more RAM in your laptop and use anything you want. :)

Before you change any settings, I would suggest removing libfreetype6-2.3.9-1.2mdv2009.1. It may be causing a conflict with your 2010.0 system. Then reboot the system and see if that helps.

I would also suggest checking what libfreetype package you have installed with rpm -qa | grep libfreetype if it's a plf rpm, you may want to replace it with the mdv rpm. The plf package (rpm) has bytecode interpreter and subpixel hinting enabled. So unless you know how to set up your subpixel rendering properly, you may want to use the mdv rpm and the default font system settings.

Please use this easyurpmi: http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/ until we have the Mandrivausers.org easyurpmi in sync with it. :) I've notified the admins about this in the mod forum.

I would suggest using the Free DVD, it's what I use. You will have all of your propriety drivers available in the repos. :)

I didn't realize that you wanted to upgrade your existing 32-bit system to 64-bit. I would not recommend trying to do that using any method, it would most likely turn your system into a disaster. :unsure: If you want to try 64-bit, I would suggest (IMHO) using a clean install.

Kieth - All you need to do after you have installed the system is enable the: Main Main Updates Contrib Contrib Updates Non-free Non-free Updates then (using easyurpmi) add the: PLF Free PLF Non-free repos to your sources. Then you will have everything you need available to install.

As Ken has already noted, you can use the mandriva-linux-free-dual-2010.iso. It will automatically detect your 64-bit cpu and install a 64-bit system for you. Alternatively, you could d/l the 4.3GB mandriva-linux-free-2010.0-x86_64.iso and install with that.

Mine is grayed out also (xvidcap-1.1.7-1plf2009.1), but it still works for me.

I don't believe that you can delete files from within aspell, however you can manually edit the file. You should be able to find the file location with aspell config personal-path then edit that file. Here's some info on that file format: Format-of-the-Personal-and-Replacement-Dictionaries
