I want to install mandrake 9.2 via ftp on my dad's computer. I just picked up a NIC from the store thinking that the mandrake install would pick up the NIC no problem. It says "no net device found." It works in windows fine, so I know it is a driver issue. I wish that I picked up a netgear one, but this was $10. I was wondering that if I could select a generic driver from the list and it would work. If so, which driver?

I've tried to look for compatibility with this NIC on www.mandrakelinux.com, but under "LAN devices," there is no Kingston brand listed. There is no Linux driver listed on Kingston's website. There has to be a way.

I too had problems with my Ati Radeon 9800 pro in mandrake 9.2. But ever since I upgraded to 10.0 community, it works fine with the Radeon(fglrx) driver. I suspect the support comes with the 2.6.3 kernel, but I have yet to prove it.

pjlehtim: when you select the LSB package in the mandrake 10 install, it installs the 2.4 kernel instead of the 2.6. :)

BTW, my Ati 9800 pro works in mandrake 10 comm. fine with the Radeon (fglrx) driver. It does not work in 9.2 however. I had to use the VESA driver.
