So do I ...1,5Gb ram, 1,73GHz Intel Pentium Dual core, running 2009. too and using KDE 4 and Gnome, compiz and works perfectly fine....mine is an inspiron 640m, 256Mb video intel 945GM and I think (and feels that way) linux works better with my notebook than windows

what do you mean with "choose Compiz-fusion but when restart all of my apps"? if u're losing the compiz-window-decorator....you can restart it typing in the terminal compiz-window-decorator --replace it used to happen many times while I was using KDE4.... I don't know if it'll work 4 u... if you want to get more plugins and info about compiz I suggest u to take a look at this page http://wiki.compiz-fusion.org/ ..........it helped me tell me if it didn't worked and I'll try to help u.... Wow you got a lot problems ..dude are you there? download this manual with opera or firefox (which 1 u like) this is what gave me a lot of info (some of them does not work anymore but taught me how to be a linux user download it and read it....if you wanna know about programs you have to download the tar.gz or .tar.bz2 files if you want to compile it (u will see it in the manual give it a try) maybe it will open your eyes a little bit more....

I downloaded the source in that page....thx a lot 4 the manual.....and the binary works fine!.....I used to run firefox 2 binary :) and don't worry my cell is a survivor :D...you're right about my pc somethings wrong with my notebook it doesn't want to compile it...............thx a lot

I think Linux is better than windows 1. Windows --->>PAY like a stupid --->software (PAY!!!) 2. windows ---> unstable and easy to break and you don't learn anything....it uses 1 partition and it's very slow compare with linux usin 3 partitions and compiz and everything... 3. Windows ---->> tell you what to do....Linux --->> Obey 4. XP -->> possibly a good release but unstable (the worst ever is ME used to destroy pcs :P and Vista is the 2nd in that list I think) 5. windows --->> makes you believe it has hardware support (no the company makes it 4 windows)...Linux ---> makes it's own drivers and teach you (while you're configuring it) what you have there ....what is it.....you have to do your homework :) ...... ..... Damn linux is better than windows....the people that uses windows probably doesn't know that linux exist or is afraid.....or simply likes windows (they should kill them self)....

I didn't have anything running and the command proves it... Hi everyone who reads this...I'm new at this forum and almost new at Mandriva linux, I've been testing it for at least 8 months or 1 year I don't really know...The problems I got are and I hope someone helps me: 1. wireless (I've tried ndiswrapper on mandriva 2008.0 and worked fine at that time) but when I used 2008.1 spring it just didn't let me activate the wireless...now I'm using 2009.0 free DVD i586 and I got (unable to find ndiswrapper interface) I've been reading a lot of post from other forums talking about compiling the necessary drivers and modules from the kernel but thats the problem I'm having what and how to do with the kernel since I don't know where mandriva saves those isos I've got via urpmi --auto-update. [root@localhost Sources]# uname -a Linux localhost 2.6.27.7-desktop-1mnb #1 SMP Thu Dec 11 16:45:35 EST 2008 i686 Genuine Intel® CPU T2080 @ 1.73GHz GNU/Linux (if you need to know what kernel I'm using) and the basic problem is where is the kernel cuz I boot from it in grub.....but how to compile those things ndiswrapper needs cuz I'm having boot speed problems because of that....linux tries to bring up the ndiswrapper interface and configurations but after 10s fail..... 2.rpmdrake crashed while it was been updated and is giving me this message every time I try to install/update/remove programs (except those in source cuz I compile them) what it does on graphical interface.? well it tells me that rpmdrake needs to be updated after I select all packages I try to install...then it downloads the rpmdrake update and when it's verifing signatures it crashes.....and when I use konsole it just do the same then it gives me this message "error: can't create transaction lock on" I've read that it is because the urpmi database is locked by another program (in this case rpmdrake) but when I use "ps -laL, pstree, and top" to find the process I find out that it isn't there opened... 3.gtk...I was going to start learning GTK and the tutorial tells me to install it so I downloaded it (source with the needed library) and compile it, make it, and install it easy with the instruccion they gave but...when I was trying to find the shorcut...it wasn't so I figure to run the program from the installation folder in this case /opt/gtk (that was in the tutoria and I just create the gtk folder in /optl)the program runs (because I have to be su to read,write, execute in root folder cuz I can't even see it) the problem is how can I make a desktop shorcut? I know there's a folder on "/usr/share/applications/kde4/" where are the other shorcuts but how... I thanks 4 your time while reading and while answering to everybody

Hi everyone I got a little problem, I just got a year using mandriva but I'm still new at this so I'll be straight.. My pc is a Dell Inspiron 640m and I just installed the new mandriva 2009.0 free DVD i586 and I got some problem with my hardware some devices (on MCC-->Hardware) appears like unknown/Others and I think they are part of unknown instead of others cuz those devices and options can't be used (some of them are ok like the mouse) but could somebody tell me how to solve those things and I also got problems with ndiswrapper interface (when I use the MCC to configure my wireless device/card it tells me something like unable to find ndiswrapper interface... I also need what to do with the kernel and how to compile it (where to install it) could somebody help me cuz I'm having those problems THX
