  1. Hey guys do any of you know if there is a Linux version or some type of driver or if WineX will run Ghost Recon? Thanks for the help.
  2. Ah, I see. No I was clicking on "custom partitioning"
  3. Okay it happens when I boot up with the mandrake (steve can you tell me what version it is) cd. When I click on the "custom partition" tab it goes to that screen. The partitions are already set up apparently and also I can't size them down to where I need them to be.
  4. I can't get windows to let me partition down so I can install mandrak like it needs to be. Any clues?
  5. Man that really sux. I have been in a similar situation with DirecTV. They had a company that handled the selling of THEIR equipment but when I had a problem they said, "oh that company doesn't represent us just sells our stuff. It isn't DirecTV's fault." Of couse the other company said, "We only sell equipment not service that is DirecTV's fauilt." Well about a month worth of time and a butt load of aggravation I finally talked to someone in the president's office of DirecTV and got it handled. My point is this: Even though it may have been Mandrake's payment company who messed up Mandrake it seems could have still had better customer service. He got a recording and could not talk to a person for help. That should not happen. Here is one of my problems with how I see that Linux systems are run. With it being open source and stuff who in the end is responsible? I admit I don't know all the ends and out of it but...this seems to be one of the disadvantages to the system. I am sure glad they got it fixed for you though, man.
  6. I realize that you can dowload it for free. But how the heck do they think they are going to make money if that is possible. Understand folks I am completely new to Linux. Also (please don't burn me at the stake or anything) I am not a MS hater like some folks. I do believe they have done some things wrong, but. Anyway I may have seen the wrong prices. I can go get Windows XP for about 100 us. Just about 50 more than the linux by your prices. Or I can have Windows (so they say) for free when I buy a computer with it on there. "oh god please don't let heathen ole me be burned by the holy linux users! I pray to you have mercy on my soul" Just kidding folks!
  7. Yea tyme I should have reread that. It does sound a little okay a lot What I mean is that the pack are like over a hundred dollars. Indeed some like 200 or so. Isn't that what some linux users complain about about MS? Seems like I have heard that complaint.
  8. (showing my ignorance again) But isn't what some of I heard about MS the complaining about the cost of Windows?
  9. Okay here is yet another dumb question from a newbie. I have cable so it doesn't matter. But if I install linux for my mom and she uses MSN for dial up service will it work in linux?
  10. Uh thanks. Matter of fact just talked to Steve. He already has it downloaded and is willing to burn it for me. Thanks!
  11. I realize this may be a horrible question. But here goes. I currently have deleted Mandrake from my computer (not forever). But anyway I did this because it was not installed really correctly the first time (through no fault of the wonderful person who did it for me). But I am wanting to install it again. I have the cds that were first used for the first try at it (well not really I left them at my mom's for now). I just wanted to know where is (if any) there an easy site to download the latest version of Mandrake Linux. Sorry if this is a stupid question. mod Note:Moved from Software by Phunni
  12. Yes I own NVW and to me it is one of the best. You at least don't have to subscribe to be able to play online. But also you are right veedub, if you don't have friends you seem to end up playing alone anyway. Which is the whole reason I wanted to play online, so I wouldn't have to play alone. DUH!! But most of the kids playing have geeked out characters and they just run around not caring about other players or just playing the game the way it was meant to be. But having a couple of friends that want to play makes it much better. Also the other cool thing about NVW they don't have to complain about piracy because they do a really good job of protecting theirselves. So their game shouldn't get to expensive. Of course it isn't cheap. I agree though subscribtion is ridculous!!
  13. So simple but so damn addictive! I love it!
  14. What you are talking about LiquidZoo is what Steve did except now I need to figure out how to do that. Hehehehe. Man why do computers have to be so hard.
