  1. So I haven't been on this board for a while and I'm wondering what is Mandrivia and what happened to Mandrake? The last time I had anything to do with Mandrake, 10.0 I think was out.

hmm are these directions applicable with mandrake 10.0 could you give me them in a more step by step manner? There is no connection thing in the taskbar that I've seen.

i'm still trying to figure this out.. My harddrake or whatever it calls shows all my stuff like my ati graphics card, etc. But for the eth0 or whatever it just shows a card but doesn't say what type or whatever.. Does this mean it doesn't recognize it? Is that why I could be having problems and if so what do I do?

ok i saw a post on here where someone told somebody else to open a console, su -, enter the password, and run drakconf ... I did this and it opened up the program and I tried to add the connection or whatever as wireless but I get stuck on which driver/network to use.. there is a big list and I've tried a lot and none work.. What do I do with that how do I know which one to use?
  6. Does this network card work with linux? I have mandrake 10.0 installed and I have no idea how to setup a wireless network card on here. I have a partition so windows xp is on here too and it works on xp i'm just using it to pickup a free network cloud. How can I get it to work with linux ?
  7. Hey I live in Athens, Ga and there is a free Wireless network cloud downtown.. I'm within the radius of it and I wanted to know do I just need a wireless network card to access it or do I still have to have a router. What do I need exactly and what do I do?
  8. searching the board is a pain in the arse.. It's not as efficient as one would assume. To fix it I used a win98 boot disk to do fdisk /mbr Mandrake didn't offer in option in the Rescue to do it. and that doesn't work on 98 to the other user.
  9. Ok you all have probably seen my post about installing windows after linux. I went through all the steps, etc. It didn't work like it was supposed to. Inserting the mandrake install 1 cd and booting from it. When you hit f1 and then type rescue no menu is given to delete the boot loader or install it. I need to get the boot loader off or do whatever it is I have to do so that I can install Windows 98 again and boot to it. I don't know exactly what I need to do. I don't need to bother uinstalling Mandrake 8.1 do I? The installation of Windows 98 will format the whole drive including those mounts correct? Either way if I can get it to boot to Windows which I guess I just get rid of lilo in then its set I will be happy. Or do I have to do something else so that it will boot to Windows 98?
  10. Awesome thanks a lot, that is much easier to understand.

    Mandrake 10.0

    Mandrake 10.0

Don't you have to have a cd burner to burn the iso's you download? I don't know what a network install is.
  13. Is there any way you can break that down in more specific steps. Or explain how to do each of those. Sorry it's just I've never done it before and I don't know how to create a vfat partition or where to do that at, etc.

    Mandrake 10.0

Hey if you decide you want to be generous and burn me a working copy of 10.0 that would be awesome. Want to mail it to me too? I would love you forever. I've been on Mandrake 8.1 since the day I got it. I ordered it off Mandrakeuser.org and it took like 2 months to come which sucked I was anticipating it so badly that I bought a Mandrake 8.1 package at Wal-Mart I saw and installed it. Like 1 month later the cds came in the mail. I just really would like to upgrade but don't have a credit card to order online like from some cheap package deal and I don't have the connection to download. I definitely understand it would be a pain to do this but if someone was willing that would be a godsend.
  15. I already have Mandrake 8.1 installed. I need Windows for a couple of school-related things. Does Windows have to be the primary OS or can I install say windows 98 on a partition now. Or do I have to go ahead and uninstall Mandrake 8.1, install win98, then install mandrake 8.1 again?
  16. Thanks a lot Scoopy. I ended up doing a lot of various commands closely related to anon's and something I did worked so thats how I got my first database up. I just today needed to populate a second one I created and your method proved extremely helpeful and yes it worked :) Again, really appreciated. Thanks anon and Scoopy.
  17. Yea, you're correct. I will try to look for some feature to import the nuke.sql file but I couldn't see it in the list on phpmyadmin and I've never used one of those programs before so I was just cruising around seeing if I could do it. I'm guessing the nuke.sql might need to be in some directory that I don't have access too like where my desty2k sql thing is. When my account was setup they automatically made me a database called desty2k and it is visible in phpmyadmin. What exact buttons should I hit or what should I do to successfully import nuke.sql in phpmyadmin to desty2k? Sorry I know there is a help site for phpmyadmin and if someone can't help I guess I will resort to that.
  18. This didn't work, I just keep getting that error dealing with syntax.
  19. Ok so all I want to know is the proper syntax for this.. mysql nuke < nuke.sql that gives me the error I have to end it with those things to show its a command.. but this doesn't work either: mysql nuke < nuke.sql; How am I properly supposed to do this? [moved from Software by spinynorman]

    php

I do have mySQL installed and it works I can log into it via the terminal as su root and then i do mysql -u root -p and enter my password and i get a mysql prompt. I created the correct database that phpnuke recognizes in the config.php file as well. Other then that I don't know what else I'm supposed to config to make phpnuke properly work I assume it is done. I did what I saw on the phpnuke site in its documentation thing. Also I mean I have no idea what that error means I obviously looked in the source code of that file and pasted that but its foreign to me.. I just need help aghh :( <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I didn't just upgrade or anything all this came off the mandrake 8.2 cd so its all old anyways. The smart thing to do would be to get the most current version of php, apache, and mysql I imagined but I just wanted to make everything work. Anyways I did run the analyze.php and got a million security errors lol, etc. but it didnt' really tell me how to fix anything in the configs if there was something wrong with my php.config. Thanks though, and I'm assuming if I got a host who had phpnuke installed and all the necessities would I just be directed to an admin.php or something page where I would do it all from my browser? I mean I have all this installed locally because I was testing everything out and going to make sort of a "beta" website for myself to see if its something I should do. Anyways I guess my question now seeing as how there is really no advice on how to fix this, is just the question above pertaining to how I would be configuring everything if I paid for a host. With that said, do you guys know any good hosts that aren't too expensive?

    php

i'm getting this error when opening http://localhost/nuke/admin.php Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/html/nuke/auth.inc.php on line 24 Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/html/nuke/mainfile.php on line 76 Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/html/nuke/mainfile.php on line 315 Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/html/nuke/mainfile.php on line 96 Now when i go to each of these files, the resulting line on those lines is this: list($pass, $admlanguage)=mysql_fetch_row($result); -- auth.inc.php line 24 list($pass)=mysql_fetch_row($result); ---- mainfile.php line 76 list($pass) = mysql_fetch_row($result); --- mainfile.php line 315 while(list($bid, $bkey, $title, $content, $url, $blockfile) = mysql_fetch_row($result)) { --mainfile.php line 96 So the page localhost/nuke/admin.php opens up and displays with those errors at the top then the 96 one stuffed in the center left of the page. I can't login to the Admin thing because nothing happens when I enter in God and Password and click enter. Where do I go from here I want to shoot myself?
  23. Scratch this post, I got Software Manager to finally read the cds. I don't know what the problem is, I know its something wrong with 8.1 and the mounting of the cds but oh well it works now.
  24. Hey I'm trying to use Software Manager to install PHP, Apache, and MySQL. I installed these initially when I just recently reinstalled Mandrake 8.1... I deleted them to start fresh or something in my newbie mind and I was trying to reinstall them from the cds yet it ask me for disc 2: the installation cd and I insert it and it just opens the drive again and asks for disc 2. I know disc 2 can be read still and isn't actually physically messed up because I just used it a cuople days ago to do the install. It just acts like it can't mount it and read it or something thats what i'm presuming. I can't access the cd itself anyways. If I right click and do mount I get an error. I don't know how to really mount via the console. But I have this php book that I just bought that is like Sams Php, MySql, and Apache in one or something like that and it has a cd. Well it in the appendix 'installing things off the cd' or something of that sort had a command which looked like this: Mount /dev/cdrom /mnt -t iso9660 this command makes it totally accessible. I'm wondering how I would apply that same command to the disc 2 installation cd. Because I'm thinking its just not mounting it because their is some issue with that in 8.1. If I recall when I bought 8.1 and first started using the forums, it was an issue at that time on mandrakeuser.org. I'm just looking for help, I need to be able to use the cds to get these packages because I removed them using software manager to do a clean install of them for whatever dumb reason I was thinking of. I tried to go online and find an rpm for MySQL but I couldn't find one maybe I didn't look worth a crap. I play a lot of guitar and am in college and busy with other things so this is like a side personal hobby for me the whole linux thing so I don't put enough effort into it for sure, but I want to get all these programs working together so I can teach myself php. Thanks.
  25. Hey I'm still running Mandrake 8.1... shame shame, but I don't really want to dish out money for another set of cds like I did to the old site MandrakeUser.org for these. I'm also not on a broadband connection so it isn't really an option for me to download iso's. My floppy drive doesn't work, and if I remember correctly this has been a problem in the past. How can I go about correcting this. When I right click the icon and click Mount I get 'could not mount device reported error was: Mount: /dev/fd0: unknown device It would be really nice to be able to correct this as I would like to be able to backup files, thanks.
