Okay, I found the home page, redownloaded and ran ldd acrossl with the following results: [root@www acrosslite1.2]# ldd acrossl libXm.so.2 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXm.so.2 (0x4001f000) libXt.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6 (0x401b9000) libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x40212000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x40222000) libXp.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXp.so.6 (0x402ed000) libXpm.so.4 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4 (0x402f5000) libstdc++.so.2.8 => not found libm.so.6 => /lib/i686/libm.so.6 (0x40305000) libc.so.6 => /lib/i686/libc.so.6 (0x40328000) libSM.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libSM.so.6 (0x40448000) libICE.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libICE.so.6 (0x40451000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x40468000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000) [root@www acrosslite1.2]# ./acrossl ./acrossl: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.2.8: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I couldn't find libstcd++so.2.8 in rpmfind.net or anywhere else. :?

I tried sh acrossl and get "cannot execute binary file." I don't know if I'm missing another program that's needed to run it or what the problem is.
-
Yes, I tried several times with the same results. :?
-
I downloaded a program I need. It was in tar.gz format so I untarred it and all that's there is a license and an executable file called acrossl. There's no configure, makefile, install or any instructions. I tried to run the program in the directory it's located in by typing ./acrossl both as root and user but I get an error message that it can't locate that file or directory. I'm stumped. Any ideas?

Actually I did a check on the kde.org page and 3.0.4 is listed as stable. Just thought you should know.
-
Have you tried upgrading to 3.0.4? It has some bug fixes that might or might not solve your problem.
-
I tried it and it wouldn't allow me to either. I even typed the number 100 in and it automatically changed back to 78 when I went to apply.

For future references "ed" is already included on yours CDs. You could have done a urpmi ed and it would have found it and installed it for you. You can also do a search in the Mandrake Control Center for software you need to install. Hope that helps!
-
And we'll continue to try and do so even though you're a traitor. Just kidding! I don't care about distros. We're all Linux users and that's what count IMO.
-
Other than removing cdrecord and re-installing, none. But if you haven't already tried it it's worth a shot. :?

Actually the autostart directory is in Italian, Spanish, French and about a zillion other languages and all it says is "autostart" :? You might try to edit your home/Desktop/.directory and remove the Removeable Media text and see if that makes a difference. Remember that's just a guess on my part and I assume no responsility! I think I should add that to my sig line for all my posts.
-
I don't know the answer to your problem but have you tried X-CD-Roast? It's really easy to use to burn music cds. Actually for that purpose I prefer it over ERoaster although I use Eroaster for everything else. Just a thought!
-
I'm sorry ral but I don't understand the question. Maybe I'm being a little dense but you're talking about a desktop/browser/office application and I don't see the connection. Could you please explain or maybe somebody else will know what you're referring to and provide you with an answer. Sorry! :?

I use vi. I looked at emacs. All I have to say is   I know this is offtopic and I'm a moderator and setting a bad example (shhh don't tell the other mods) but frew your avatar would make an awesome tattoo!

 When I'm here posting I am on my break from my work! I'd much rather be doing this.

DOlson has this tutorial on his page. It's the only thing I've read about changing cursors. http://mdkxp.by-a.com/htm/tutorials/whitecursor.php

If you look in your KDE Control Center, Sessions, Login Manager, Convenience there is an option to preselect a user.

Don't feel silly. I helped a guy one time that knew a LOT more about Linux that I do. But he was looking for something difficult and I could see that he was overlooking a very obvious, easy solution. I was really hesitant to respond but I did half expecting to get told off. Instead he posted back with a thanks, that sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees. Happens to all of us!
-
Do you by any chance chose to save session when you log out?
-
You can use drag and drop with ERoaster. It's very easy to use.

My husband is from East Texas. Need I say more?
-
I think this thread will help answer your question. http://www.mandrakeusers.org/viewtopic.php?t=105

There is no configure for this program. You will have to su to root to do make because it has to create directories. Then make install. Should work. I just tried the first part because I didn't want to actually install it.

I am NOT a Texan and I do NOT say it like a Texan and cannonfodder is in big trouble. I live in Texas but I wasn't born and raised here and don't have an accent. Even my kids don't have accents! Cannonfodder!!!!
-
Cannonfodder has to be correct because I know for a fact that we both pronounce it the same way.
