  1. You can use the install packages screen and filter the packages to see if they still need to be installed. If you want to check if Apache is installed, go to http://localhost - you should see a test page if Apache is installed and running. You may need to start it, you can do so from the DrakXServices screen in the Mandrake Control Center, there you can also choose if it should start at boot. If the httpd process is not in the list, it appears not to be installed and you should be able to reinstall it from the packages screen. As for the MySQL server, you can check if that has been installed by opening terminal, login as root and go to your mysql/bin dir (not sure what the default folder is of the Mandrake package, I installed manually) and type './mysqld_safe'. You should see something like this: Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /usr/local/mysql/data
  2. yeah for some reason the Control Center didn't work for me neither, while it did on a previous installation, but well "gedit /etc/lilo.conf" does the trick too.
  3. Hmm, having the same problem, but that RPM doesn't work for me Edit: ah, found the problem. I opened op the GNOME Terminal and did a 'updatedb', then I used 'find / -name libflashplayer.so' and found it the RPM installed the file in /usr/lib/netscape/plugins, instead of mozilla, so copying the flash plugin files from netscape dir to mozilla-1.4 dir did the trick
  4. That goes in my notepad with "useful Linux tips for a Linux noob". Thanks
  5. Hehe, that was a laugh. These sites have some great anti-windows replies on stories :P
  6. I've tried LindowsOS for about 10 minutes before I knew it was total crap. It amazed me already that it fitted on only 1 CD, but then when it installed it all became clear to me, you need to pay for all the freaking packages for LindowsOS. And I thought that it could handle Windows apps, but how the f*ck can it do that if it doesn't even recongnize .exe files So nah, no LindowsOS for me. I'll just stick to Mandrake 9.2.
