Thanks for the list it is very useful rather than having to get to the help all the time to work out what command is supposed to be used for what the list makes things much easier as well as giving a brief explination of what does what :D

I really want to ge the new kernal but im a little worried that some of the things I have got working wont after the update as im a noobe to linux I really dont relish the thaught of having days / weeks of work go down the pan with the update... I am also triple booting my machine with XP pro 2k both using the usual M$ OS chooser and im using a boot floppy for Mandrake 9.2 so as you can see it is a little daunting for the upgrade .............................

Wow thanks for that it will be very handy as im sort of new to this I have only really started using mandrake in earnest and rarley use my winders partition any more except for playing the odd game......

Ok so wine is updated on a daly basis but I dont have a clue on how to install it I am using Mandrake 9.2 but I am a beginner as far as linux is coserned ( me spell I dont think so ) so the obvious question is how do I compile and install wine as i have read the wine web site but it does not really give you a walk through from start to finish....I understand that their are many distros around the get and that they are all diffrent and that it takes up time to wright how to's for the distro but if any one knows how to then I am willing to follow instructions and learn..after all I have managed to get my sound , and network local / internet working without help as such I am just clue less on how to get a decent wine install installed so i can use some of the programs i have become attached to in winders especially YahElite so I can talk to my buddies in my favorite rooms.. so as you can tell I am a little lost

I have a SB live value and on board sound the onboard it turned off in the bios as it has never been used and hopefully wont ever be used. I have just compleated a fresh install of mandrake 9.2 to find my sound card no longer works I used 9.1 before and it worked fine ( reason for upgrade was to see if I could get my Speedtouch 330 to work no joy their yet but I will get to it as it is not that important at the moment) creative dont seem to have any drivers for the card and I am unable to get a single sound from my speakers and being quite new at this I am at a bit of a loss as I have tried diffrent drivers and configs to no avail as yet any help much appreciated thanks in advance...

I have used the speedbundle-1.0 frome sourceforge and I have the mgmt.o file I do the make with no real problems and everything looks fine. But when I do the make install it just errors I have attached a text dock with the errors for your perusal..any help would be appreciated thanks in advance. error.txt
