  1. Thanks for your answer and sorry for my late reply. Libdvdread and libdvdnav are already installed. If I boot with the DVD movie in the drive it works. I can play it in totem-xine, vlc 0.9.2 and smplayer. But only if I boot with the DVD in the drive. The fstab entry was created by the cd/dvd wizard in drakconf/local disks. I tried it to see if it could solve the problem, but it didn't work any better than without a fstab entry. So I removed the line in fstab again. I've come to the conclusion that it might be the drive. It seems it's rather unstable in 2008.1 as well. I don't play DVD's often, so I didn't notice that before. DVD data discs mount fine though.
  2. See https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=44720
  3. Thanks aussiejohn and scarecrow. I know libdvdcss2 is needed and it's already installed. I already have the PLF repos (they are available for cooker from easy urpmi). # urpmi libdvdcss2 Package libdvdcss2-1.2.10-1plf2009.0.i586 is already installed I don't think this is a plugin or codec problem. I should have all I need installed (I don't use kaffeine). To me it seems like a mounting problem or something like that. When I insert a DVD movie or a DVD data disc with divx movies, the drive is considered to be empty. If I launch totem I will get an error, that there's no disc in the drive. The drive doesn't show up in /media either. I tried booting with the disc inserted, and then it seems to be there, but if I change to another disc it doesn't work.
  4. I have a problem reading dvds in cooker 2009 RC2 gnome. The drive works perfectly with cd-roms and I'm able to burn dvds as well. It detects an empty dvd just fine. But for some reason if I insert a dvd movie, Mandriva thinks the drive is empty. It doesn't mount and if I right click/mount, nothing happens. I have the following line in /etc/fstab /dev/sr0 /media/cdrom auto umask=0,users,iocharset=utf8,noauto,ro,exec 0 0 Can someone lead me to the solution? Thanks. edit: sorry for posting in the wrong forum. I did not see the cooker section. [moved from Installing Mandriva by Greg2 :)]
  5. Thanks for the precise answer scarecrow. :) I just wanted to make sure, that the files got deleted properly. :D Problem solved.
  6. i used Amarok with Postgresql back in Ubuntu 1-1½ year ago and it was working great. Like mentioned I can't make it work in Mandriva and I get the error mentioned above: createuser: symbol lookup error: createuser: undefined symbol: PQconnectionNeedsPassword I have used the guide from the Amarok Wiki and the Ubuntu forum, but I'm somewhat of a noob, when it comes to this. I will look into this, but I'm not really sure I understand what you're talking about. SOLVED - I made it work. I installed a few more Postgresql packages including the postgresql....server package. I thought installing postgresql 8.3 was enough. With the server package and 2-3 more installed, I could easily create the database and make it work. Greetings Volapyk
  7. Hi I'm running Mandriva 2008.1 Gnome. I use an 500 GB external drive for music etc. The drive is formatted with NTFS. My problem is when I delete files from the drive (by pressing delete or choosing move to recycle bin), the files do not end up in the recycle bin. The files disappear but I have no clue where the files are going and/or if they are taking up space somewhere. How can I fix this and make the drive work with the recycle bin, like normally? Where did the files go? I don't want them to take up space somewhere. Greetings Volapyk
  8. Thanks for the suggestion. Actually I tried making Mysql work before trying Postgresql, but I could not make it work. I will have a look at the link you in your answer. For now I'm using Exaile instead of Amarok. Nice player, but with a few more bugs.
  9. Hi, I would like to use Postgresql with Amarok in Mandriva 2008.1, because Amarok has become really slow with Sqlite. I have installed Postgresql8.3 and I'm trying to follow this procedure from the Ubuntu forum: 1 - #su - postgres 2 - createuser -P amarok 3 - createdb -O amarok collection So I create the user and it asks me for a password. I type the password twice and all is fine. It then asks if the new user should be a superuser. (y/n) - I answer y I then get the following error: -bash-3.2$ createuser -P amarok Enter password for new role: Enter it again: Shall the new role be a superuser? (y/n) y createuser: symbol lookup error: createuser: undefined symbol: PQconnectionNeedsPassword I get the same error if i run "createdb -O amarok collection". What am I doing wrong?
