  1. Hello to all! I'm a totaly newbie in this and just installed Mandrake 9.0 and so I used the GUI to install the modem through MCC... I've searched the internet and downloaded a .pdf file from my modem vendor saying how can I connect. They say that I have to type the following command at the console to make it work: ln -s /dev/ttyS1 /dev/modem (if your modem is connected at com port 2, which my modem is at com2) When I execute the command (hit enter) console says that there is already a /dev/modem and nothing happens... I have an ISDN modem (Netmod v 3.77 Greece) and everything seems to work fine when I go through KPPP and query my modem. I'm getting an answer with all the modem commands, so I guess it's working, well I'm wrong! Cause when I try to connect, KPPP sticks at the initializing modem... screen and nothing happens! When I try with GNOMEPPP I get an error saying it can't set the modem volume at the setting I specified and stops trying! As I said I'm a tottaly newbie, please help if you can. THANKS IN ADVANCE
