  1. Hello, I removed all other kernels before upgrading to a broken kernel so now can't boot. How can I install another kernel? I've tried the command prompt from rescue mode on the dvd but the commands seem limited and I don't really know which to use. I managed to mount the drive and chroot it but that's about it. I need to either run urpmi or rpm and get the kernel off a cdr or the install dvd or something. is rescue mode loaded to ram or something so I can temporarily load another disc? Can you help? version: 2009.0
  2. Hi, I wasn't able to bring up X again so hardware reboot and boot failed so installed 2008.1 free iso which is a massive improvement. Thanks for help Tom
  3. Thanks for the reply. init 0 works until it gets to 'Unmounting file systems'. The cursor has been blinking there for about 10 minutes
  4. Hi, I successfully installed all latest cooker 2008.1 packages onto my 2008.0 powerpack system because I was missing some 2008.0 packages etc but now the reboot/shutdown etc commands don't work e.g. 'reboot' from root or user terminal start but there's blank space underneath for over 30 seconds and the terminal session window can be closed I can't find any solutions. I didn't create a swap because there's 4GB ram. I renamed and replaced some files with the updated .rpmnew etc files .orig. Is there a file which has been misconfigured causing this? Is there anyway to safely reboot/shutdown now? Would a hardware reset affect the updates? Thanks Tom
  5. Hi, I will Thanks so much :) Tom
