  1. I seen a US robotics modem that mentioned linux support on the box.
  2. I've been thinking of getting one of these for awhile now. Any suggestions for a particular brand or model? Also, is there any that are incompatible with Linux?
  3. Here is the link to the torrent for those interested in trying it. http://torrent.dulug.duke.edu/FC2-test1-bi...ry-i386.torrent I however intend to wait for the official release.
  4. Linux has more than two trees. Slackware is another one, and there is probably more.
  5. Good move, but if they want to get my business they are going to have to start selling PCs with the option of NOT having windoze installed. I don't like paying the M$ tax.
  6. That's great! I don't doubt they will be very reasonably priced too.
  7. Check out this ultra small web browser I heard about. It's only 350kb. :o http://www.dillo.org/
  8. I think Firefly would have been a cooler name. B)
  9. This is cool. I heard that microsoft's games division is not as evil as the rest of the company. Actually, I never heard of this game before... but gamespot says it is awesome. Probably wasn't marketed enough, or something.

    Zip Drives

Thanks guys. :) Based on what I've heard in this thread I don't think I'll be getting a zip drive. Maybe one of those keydrive thingys instead, although those aren't too cheap either.

    Zip Drives

I've been thinking about getting one, because I need something that is simple to just drag and drop files onto and is very reliable and won't be scratched or whatever, like CDs. So can anyone tell me the pros and cons of Zip, andalso whether it is easy to setup in linux or not. I have heard something about a click of death, and that doesn't sound too encouraging.... Have they fixed this problem? Also, if Zips aren't that reliable can someone suggest an alternative removable media? Thanks.
  12. Cool, hopefully Fedora Core 2 isn't too far off now.
  13. It would be good if the items had a url to this site, to help advertise.
  14. Actually, I'd just prefer that I could buy a computer with NO software installed whatsoever. Period. Then I could download mandrake for free and install that. ;)
  15. Virii aren't really a problem for Linux as they are for windows, although some antivirus software for linux does exist. You may want to run a google search and see what comes up. As for the other things, Mozilla handles them quite nicely. It has built in popup and image blocking controls so you can stop most ads and popups without installing anything extra. Also, you might want to try mozdev.org and check out some other mozilla addons that extend the functionality of it in various ways. :)

    IRC Clients

What is (in your opinion) the best IRC client for Linux? I know of Xchat and Chatzilla, but that's it. Can someone give a comparison?
  17. Go to gaim.sourceforge.net and there you will find a 0.75 rpm for mandrake 9.2. I suggest trying that.
  18. Thanks. Now what do I do about the URPMI database being locked?
  19. If you would like my recommendation, I would say check this out: http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/ You give them text and graphics and they put it on tshirts, coffee mugs, and other things and then there is a base price that they charge for the items, but you can charge more than that and make a profit. It's free to set up. B)
  20. I tried this and it freezes up every time. I can wait for hours and it doesn't progress any further. So what can I do to get the updates?
  21. Thanks. Now, about the Belkin thing, how do I go about setting it up?
  22. I have a belkin wireless USB ethernet adaptor and also a Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra mp3 player. Any way to get either of these working in mandrake 9.2? I have tried searching for help on google but couldn't find anything useful.
  23. Thanks. That worked. B)
  24. How do I switch from Gnome to KDE? I can't seem to find an option for it anywhere, and I've had no luck looking through the documentation. I'm using 9.2 and I have both KDE and Gnome installed, so I should be set.
