  1. I think the Gatos driver is what you're looking for. it's packaged for Mandrake as gatos, iirc. I haven't checked its status for a long time, though.

Thank you, with some tinkering I got it to work with avview, but not too well. It doesn't work at all with xawtv or anything else. I guess I'll have to either wait until gatos is more stable or have to get a new graphics card. :o

  2. Well, personally I am most looking forward to the new Debian because I always wanted to use Debian but I never could because it was too complicated to configure... hopefully with that new installer things will be easier. As for the other two, well I don't think that they will be dramatic improvements over their current respective versions. Am I wrong on this?

I have also included in this poll and Other option in case there is an upcoming distro version I'm not aware of...

  3. I got 10.0 CE...got tired of waiting literally 10-20 minutes for FIREFOX to load up...and finally dumped it.

Far too slow for my needs...9.2 runs as well and fast as win98 used to on this comp...10.0...well, I've never seen a comp run that slow...seriously, I've seen Apple IIEs, and I've run Black and White on a comp with 64MB SD-Ram, but even that was faster than 10.0...and I personally don't notice any difference. I mean, I didn't mess around with it much, but to me it seemed almost identicle to 9.2 (except crashing a lot more because it was only CE)

I recommend you try Official. It fixes ALOT of the problems with the community edition.

  4. I've been using this card for like a year and it has worked great as a regular graphics card, but I never bothered with the TV functions (mostly because I have a TV) until now and I find that I cannot get it to work. Does anyone know how I might get it to work without breaking the computer? I am using 10.0 official.

    Thanks in advance. :help:

  5. I heard some time ago that Macromedia is working to port their Shockwave plugin to Linux. However since then I have heard nothing, and I am wondering how far along they are towards releasing it? Does anyone know?

Shockwave is one thing that keeps some users away from linux.

  6. I am unable to update anything! I get an error about something curl 9, blah.  :wall:

I know now never to download Community Edition again.

I was feeling that same way. For a time my intenet speed was so bad, I was using SuSE and *gasp* windex from home. Try to update a few items at a time. I saw someone else with that problem, maybe counterspy, and that's how he got around it.

Thanks, but how do you do just a few items at a time?

  7. I've solved it, at least it is working now just fine (don't know my solution will cause other probs).

I've edited the properties of the XMMS icon, I deleted the command soundwrapper.

Thank you. I have had the same problem and now it works great.
