  1. Are you talking about scrolling?
  2. Phoenix is indeed very fast. But I like a "suite" like Mozilla.
  3. fdisk does not like partitions set up by Linux. It has trouble IDing size and even what is there. This is hoke, but it works. Take the Mandrake install disk. Start an install in expert and reformat your partions, using fat32. After it is done, instaed of loading the OS, just shut down! fdisk will ID all.
  4. I never saw the warning until 8.2, and then it was some obscure rpm's that I experimented with. But with 9.0, texstar's rpm's are giving me the warning, which never did previously.
  5. Can someone please explain what bad signatures are on a file and why I am suddenly getting this warning with almost every rpm I install that is not found on the CD's?
  6. That is interesting. I do have two drives. One for read and the other for burn. I should experiment and take one out.
  7. Did you download? Good checksum? Good burn? Sounds too easy, but these two things can really baffle an install.
  8. I agree about the cd burns. Everytime I have had this type of problem, it has been either a bad download or a bad burn.
  9. Hey, I work in Gary and live in Valpo. OK, I re-did everything and this time it worked. I must have been in a hurry and not checked both boxes. Only issue now is I can only burn as root, whereas before I could burn as a user. But I can live with that.
  10. I selected both user and explicit mount and deselected auto. I did use mcc, but maybe I should manually do what I need? Also, I created shortcuts on the desktop, which add a mount command when supermount is off. (yes, I like GUI!) Maybe I should just use terminal?
  11. OK, I'm an idiot. When I turn off supermount, my CD burner stops working. In fact, when I try to mount either of my CDROMs, I get errors like "no media found" (it is there!) and "file system not supported" (just stuff backed up on a CDRW) I turn supermount back on, everything is fine. What do I do?
  12. Ahh, I see. I have found the problem DOES exist on my computer, by doing a simple find. Thanks for the tip!
  13. TheYinYeti, you would fit right in with the Democrats in New Jersey!
  14. What are the problems? I have not experienced any so far on my installation.
  15. Oh joy! I plugged my Palm Pilot into its craddle and dared to sync in my new Mandrake 9.0, and it worked!!! The last time I tried this with 8.2, I corrupted the Palm and had to restore with a windows back-up. Let's see, Return to Castle Wolfenstein works flawlessly (not WINE), the palm works, all of my work documents can be read and edited in Open Office, now if I can get the home finance out of MS Money, I can get rid of Windows completely!!!!

    bookmarks

I'm sorry, I missed the new login part. That's why you don't see them. I always use identical user info in order to use the same /home folder. SU will have to move that existing folder from your old /home into your new /home folder.

    bookmarks

They shuold be in your /home directory, under a hidden folder, /.kde/share/apps/konquerer/bookmarks or something like that. Mine usually automatically come up after launching konquerer. I always do a fresh install preserving my /home directory, at least since 8.0.
  18. It looks just like Win98 or ME!
  19. Might be my imagination, (except I do not have one) but I think that RC3 is compiling faster than RC2. And no errors as yet. I'll try some others that generated errors on RC2.
