  1. Hello everyone I got my shared printer working by myself, so I don't need to start a new post for it. Thank you everyone for all your help.
  2. Hi everyone and thank you for all your help I made filesharing work on all three computers. I took help from these two websites: 1 2 Also, I installed drakwizard and used the Configure Samba tool. Now I want to set up printer sharing, but first I have to get the printer working with Mandriva. I'll start a new post in the hardware subforum.
  3. Hi ianw1974, thank you for your reply. I installed samba-client and samba-common on my Mandriva PC. I also installed samba-server, as I want to share files from my Mandriva PC. Mac OS X has samba preinstalled. I want to first get filesharing working on all three computers, and then set up the printer. I'm not sure how to set up samba server for filesharing on Mandriva. Please tell me how to easily set up samba server for filesharing, preferrably without having to use the command-line.
  4. Hello I have three computers in my house: 1) my desktop PC, which is running Mandriva One 2008 KDE, 2) my MacBook, which is running OS X Tiger 10.4.10, and 3) a desktop PC belonging to the rest of my family, which is running Windows XP SP 2. We have a DSL internet connection. Our DSL modem is connected to a wireless router, which allows all three computers in the house to share the DSL connection. My Mandriva PC is upstairs, and the Windows PC is downstairs. The MacBook is downstairs most of the time. The wireless internet is working fine on all 3 computers. We have a printer, which is connected to the Windows PC. Now, I want to be able to share files and our printer between all 3 computers on our wireless home network. Please advice me on how to do this. I will appreciate any help you give me.
  5. Hello I'm using Mandriva One 2008 KDE, and I want to create a separate session for Compiz Fusion. Please tell me how to do this. I will appreciate any help you give me.

  7. Hello I read some other websites, and it seems this problem is happening because the One LiveCD is trying to set a resolution/refresh rate which my LCD monitor doesn't support. Is there any way to change the resolution/refresh rate from within the One LiveCD, so that the black screen and the message don't come? I will appreciate any help you can give me.
  8. Hello I'm not sure how to load the CD with a switch. Can you please tell me how.
  9. Hello everyone Please forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong forum. I use Ubuntu on my desktop computer, and I want to try Mandriva. I have a Proview 19" LCD monitor and an ATI Radeon 9200 PRO graphics card. They both work well with Ubuntu. I have downloaded the Mandriva 2008 One KDE Live/Install CD ISO, and I have burned it to a CD. I booted up my computer from the burned CD, and Mandriva was booting up. Unfortunately, it didn't boot up completely. In the progress bar screen, which has the words "Press ESC for verbose mode", when the progress bar became full, the monitor became black and had this message: MESSAGE MODE NOT SUPPORTED H: 75.0 KHZ V: 60.0 HZ This same problem also happened when I tried PCLinuxOS 2007. However, this problem never happens with Ubuntu or its derivatives. Also, I have tried KNOPPIX and Puppy Linux on the same computer, and this problem didn't happen with them. My monitor still has the message, and I'm writing this post from my laptop. Please help me fix this problem. I will highly appreciate any help you give me.
