  1. For now im going to learn mandrake inside out before I try any more distro's. Ive been to the sites. After I am done Mandrake I would like to take a look at SuSe. Then once im really good I want to give Gentoo a shot. You've all been so helpful  Thanks.
  2. Hello everyone, I am extremely new to linux. I tried to do redhat 9.0 and had problems with it so went to mandrake it is working just fine. I was wondering what makes one Distro better than another? Now I know all you advanced users are looking down on me as an idiot but thats the stage I want to get out of. So im asking, What makes Mandrake better that Redhat, or Suse better than Gentoo? -Neocytrix
  3. Hello, I have noticed that everytime I go to the Kernal tab in the Control Center it says that the kernal isn't good (or somthing to that effect). It tells me that either I could have found a bug in the KDE thing. Sorry if this doesn't sound right, I am VERY new to the Linux world. -Neocytrix
  4. I don't yet have it set up but I did something and now everytime I open the terminal it gives me nick@verizon.net. How do I get rid of that in Mandrake using KDE?
  5. Hello everyone. I have recently re-installed Linux Mandrake and I chose to just make the floppy so I could use linux when I wanted yet still allow the rest of my family to boot up into windows. However now I need the disk to bring up the lilo boot loader to load any OS if no disk is in it just goes "L 99 99 99" and so on until it fills my screen up with that. Does anyone out there know how to fix this perhaps mabey a boot cd and someway to change the boot settings? I don't know. THANKS -Neocytrix

  8. Hello everyone, I am very new to linux. My video card is a Nvidia GeForce FX 5200. However, when I boot up it tells me that its not cofigured properly. So I can only run linux in text mode. So I went to Nvidia's website and found this site http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=linux_di...y_ia32_1.0-4363. Now I know I have to save the script as and I burnt it so when I boot back up into linux text mode I don't know the commands to install it from the CD. -Neocytrix
