  7. I don't want anything to do with redhat. Can someone tell me how hard it would be to learn Slackware, SuSe, Gentoo, and freeBSD? Whats the easiest out of those, whats the hardest? -Neocytrix

  9. Hello everyone, I have been using and learning mandrake for quite some time now and I am now considering trying a different distrobution. Does anyone know a distrobution thats a little above a noob level but not hard to install and configure? -Neocytrix

We have no idea how the thing got messed up, when you boot up without a CD in it, you just see a black screen with a blinking curser, when you boot up with the XP CD you can't get passed the hardware detection part, and when you go to install Linux you can install but the bootloader never works, I tried that rescue option already, but no luck -Neocytix

Hello everyone, Im trying to get a computer that has Windows and Linux on two seperate partitions, however, after I install and configure Lilo a black screen comes up when I try to reboot with just an "L" on it. Furthermore, I tried to put in the Windows CD and that won't even get past trying to detect hardware, any suggestions? -Neocytrix
  12. Hello everyone, Im just starting to use/learn C++, and when I compile a script it says "Press enter to continue" it looks like Kdevelop put the line in and I couldn't find an option to take it out. Thanks :D -Neocytrix

Hello everyone, I was having a bunch of problems with Mandrake 10.0 community so I reinstalled it and now I can't install things off of the 2nd and 3rd cd, I go to the media to redo the cd's and the first one works, but the second one and third one both come back with errors. Anything helps -Neocytrix
  15. It still didn't work it return this error when I type "mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy" mount: mount point /mnt/floppy does not exist When I go to /mnt and type "ls" it comes back with this cdrom0/ disc0part1/ livecd/ ramdisk/ -Neocytrix

  19. Hello everyone, I am starting to use SLAX, based off of SLACKWARE linux, its different from Mandrake, which im used to. lol I need to know how to switch to the floppy drive in the terminal in SLAX. Im sure any of you can answer this in 2 seconds. -Neocytrix

    GTK problem

    I think Neorion should just download the ISO's and burn them himself . I also know your having problems with installing software, go to MCC>software manager>media manager> and delete all the entries there, then go to add and choose "removable media" and go to the path of your cdrom (ex. /mnt/cdrom) and just add the three sources again -Neocytrix

    GTK problem

    Its in your package manager, go to the software installer and type gtk for the search. Install all of the packages and you should be good to go. -Neocytrix
