  1. Hi! This question has already been answered by a friend of mine <mtweidmann>, but I wanted to know what you guys think. In konqueror (file manager), you always have to single click on everything when in tree/list view. I prefer double clicking and in kdeaddons (3 i think) it changed to double click. Now, its back to single click. What's going on? Have they removed this doule click feature / will they be bringing it back? I know what you're going to say; go to control panel and change kde settings to “double click on icons”. This isn't the case – kde will double click on icons, but then single click on konqueror tree view. Why?!! Am i getting confused between konqueror and kde? I'd love to hear your opinions. All the best, Si :mdk: 9.2, kernel 2.62
  2. ok thanks! i think i'll be ok learning to live with it!! :)
  3. Hello, I know its a small point, but is there any way of getting rid of "file:/" which you find at the start of the address bar in konqueror (when browsing local files)? it is getting a little annoying since other programs prefer paths to start with "/" only... Thanks, Simon [a newbie who has just successfully installed kernel 2.62. yeay me! :D]
  4. Hello! I need to use a program called CLIPS for my uni work but I would rather use a graphical / X version of it... In Mandrake 9.1 I go to RpmDrake and type in "clips" and get 2 install packages; clips and xclips. Both install fine, but when I run "xclips" in the terminal (even as root) I get "segmentation fault". Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me? What can I do? (don't make me reboot into windows to do work *shudders at thought*) Thanks, Si
  5. Thanks everyone! Its now the 4th day with linux for me, and I doubt I'll ever try and live life without it now!! lol! Your friend forever (and that applies to all of you!) Si :D
  6. Wow! Thanks for your help: I commented out the message= statement, but then found it failed on the next file it tried to access from the /boot partition. I “ls”ed in the boot directory, but found nothing was there. So, I asked the “rescue” menu to restore the bootloader…. I reset, and the text-bootloader menu came up (long time no see)! Now, back in linux :D I’ve reselected “graphical menu” for lilo and restarted, and all is ok again. Problem was that one line in the lilo.conf file: boot=*something_other_than_hda* Thanks again!! Si
  7. Hello, *first post, wow!* I had to replace Mount –t reiserfs With Mount –t ext2 … Then it mounted. Used emacs to change etc/lilo.conf so it is boot=/dev/hda now. When I check with lilo –v, it comes up with Fatal: open /boot/message: no such file or directory. (Also, after I have saved and “exited” emacs, I can type at the prompt, but the characters aren’t displayed and the results are displayed all screwy.) :( Si
