  1. Is the some sort of browser or file ecitor that I can set up to open as a super user, so I don't have to open a terminal, and the su and then open nautilus? Or can I set the group of my html files to kilimanajro and still have everything work OK? The next thing is security in MCC it says if you are running a server your security level should be set at "higher", I did this and the system monitor in gnome panael quit and gave me an error when I tried to restart it. Do I need my security this high, and if so how can I get my system monitor applet to work?
  2. :D :D :D :D Now how do I change the words on the screen? 216.98.234.11
  3. The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. 4. I tried to make an index.html file and it didn't work gowator keeps telling me to use OO, but I really, I mean really, don't know what to do when I open up a editor. What do you mean when you say text file? Are you talking about a text edoitor (something else I don't really know much about)?

  9. that is so cool, I feel like a real computer geek now
  10. :D Hooray scoopy! It worked. Now, my next question, how do I access file in the folder. I can see ther html.index, but not any of the files in the folder. How do I link what I see from my page to actuall files, how do I create directories? And, the next big one is users and passwords. Maybe something I should have said earlier, Idon't know anything about html, other then how to surf the web.
  11. are both of your isp on the same line? Use the same modem? Are you using kppp? I had problems once when I was switching over from dial-up to dsl and I had both modems on the same line. I have found that sometimes it helps to restart atleast with internal systems before you change anything else. If you are using kppp, you can set up two profiles or accounts (I think that is what they are called in kppp) with different dial numbers, logins, and passwords. If you are using an external dsl modem, I don't know very much about them except it seemed easier to go into MCC and configure the both your ethernet card and you adsl set-up.
  12. I actually installe apache2 first, but it wasn't working, and I saw gowator was usinf 1.3, so I removed it and put in 1.3.
  13. I made the new folder - testwith an index.html in it. The error was because I had remove the file platform.html and put it in my folder to see if it changed anything. When I put it back the error line dissappeared. I'm going to try to move the main index.html into test and see if that works, btw I cannot open test. No changes still says forbbiden. The name for the file owner is apache - system user for apache2 Could this be causing problems?
