Anyone recomend good software for ripping DVD's to avi? Thanks in advance!

I've tried installing Bittorrent but get errors everytime. Any pointers? I downloaded azureus and couldnt get it to work. Perhaps its because I dont have java installed. I am new to linux and have no idea how or where to get java.

Can anyone recomend a good program to download torrents? I just upgraded from Mandrake 10.0 to Mandriva 2007 and I'm not having much luck with software so far. Thanks in advance!!!

This is why I like Mandrake 10.0 I can use both KDE and GNOME without any signifcant speed issues :) I'm still learning so my biggest issue is finding software and configuration.

The computer is actually a few years old. Its a pentium 3 1ghz with 192mb of RAM. I was afraid my computer wouldnt support a newer release. I have actually solved the one speaker not working issue. It seems I had a short in the cable ;) Would my current setup work with a newer relsease?

Please bare with me. I am a newbie with linux. I just installed Mandrake 10.0 and my sound (onboard Intel AC97) only plays through one speaker. Also, when I try to watch a video, the picture is there but only static for sound. Can anyone help me remedy this? Thanks in advance :)
