My friends told met that if you want to view the error messages for your system, you should went to /var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog. Unfortunately, i can"t open this file to view it. I have try to log in as root and open it but the console display an error messages which is permission denied. I have run out of idea. Could anyone please help me on this. By the way, what is Samba. Is it a file sharing server ? Your help is greatly appreciated by anyone who don"t know this matter.

I also facing the same problem with you. My sound card is MCP55 ethernet. I using sda-intel driver for it. Is there any idea how to fix it.

I have add the repositories to my computer. When i browser for certain website, it shows additional plugin is needed for the website. Then i download it but i don"t know how to use command line to isntall it. I have try to enter this to konsole rpm -iv /home/nicholas_tse/Download/flash-plugin-9.0.31.0.release.i386 The konsole then print an error message which is no such file or directory. I can install it through GUI but i want to learn how to install in CLI. Please forgive my stupidness. Your help is grealty appreciated. I will remember forever. Thanks for your help. I have try your solution but seems the terminal show much more error than before. After modification, my code is as below: #include<stdio.h> main() { printf("Welcome to the Linux World"); } My Error message as below: There are many much more error messages that i not showing here but it is almost similiar with the one i post here. Few days ago, i have installed Mandriva Linux 2007 on computer. I am a newbie to computer and programming also. Is there any methods to check the software isntalled at my computer ? Besides that, i also have another problem which is GCC compiler problem. When i typed gcc /home/nicholas_tse/C/Welcome.c -o Welcome.c , the konsole return an error message which is no newline at end of the file. I don"t know what happen to my program but i can sure that my program is very simple. I using Mandriva Linux 2007 free edition on my PC. At the moment, i can play CD or DVD but without the sound effect. I don"t know what wrong with it but it is really make me headache. I hope that all of you can help on this issue. I think the kernel can detect the my sound driver. Unfortunately, nothing is happen when i play CD and DVD. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Few days ago, i installed Mandriva Linux 2007 on my PC. Everything go smooth on my PC but this matter does"t last long. I am a newbie to computer. Any stupid question, please forgive me. I cann"t connect to internet. Not only that, MY LAN or etho is up but is not connected. I have try to click connect on the monitor network screen, unfortunately this also cann"t solved the difficulities i have encourted. I also configure a PPOE dialler for DSL conenctyion type. I was wonder how i going to connect internet without connect LAN first. Therefore, i hope that you guys can help me on this problem. Your help is greatly is appreaciated. Thanks for your help.

At first time installation, my system was running smooth but this matter was not last long. At second time installation, my system also successfully install but the system can't boot and appeared some error message which decompressed format problem. Please help me. I try to fox this problem more than three weeks by repeating reinstall. Unfortunately, this problem still exists. Thanks for your help.
