  1. Also, I forgot to mention that Quicken (most versions) can be run from Linux using Crossover Office http://www.codeweavers.com/ if you find that you simply like Quicken better than the Linux alternatives.
  2. I wish Fluffy was mine. He is the cutest dog I've ever seen. I discovered this picture while looking around at blogs and someone had found it on the internet and wanted to share it. You can get it from here http://thisisfluffy.ytmnd.com/ This is what you get when you google Fluffy apparently he is popular http://www.google.com/search?q=%22This+is+...n-US:unofficial
  3. My latest screenshot which includes my favorite picture that I am using for a wallpaper.
  4. You should check out KMyMoney. It has matured so much and I really find it useful. I use it as a replacement for Microsoft Money.
  5. I would like to thank everyone who tried to help me. I ended up just creating a new user account for myself and moving over most of the stuff and settings and running: chown -R myself:myself /home/myself/ It worked like a dream. I would have just deleted the .mozilla but lots of other things were having problems so........this seemed like the best option.
  6. I tried that first: [heather@applwibas02-l10-1025 heather]$ firefox -profilemanager bash: firefox: command not found [heather@applwibas02-l10-1025 heather]$ mozilla-firefox -profilemanager (Gecko:4790): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox-1.0.4/run-mozilla.sh: line 451: 4790 Segmentation fault "$prog" ${1+"$@"} but it said command not found so I tried mozilla-firefox instead.
  7. I can open it if I am in my roommates acct. and I su heather and open it that way so I didn't think it was the profile and also I am having crashing problems with Thunderbird as well. But I tried mozilla-firefox -profile manager and got this: [heather@applwibas02-l10-1025 heather]$ firefox -profilemanager bash: firefox: command not found [heather@applwibas02-l10-1025 heather]$ mozilla-firefox -profilemanager (Gecko:4790): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed /usr/lib/mozilla-firefox-1.0.4/run-mozilla.sh: line 451: 4790 Segmentation fault "$prog" ${1+"$@"} I even tried reinstalling since I had .9 instead of .91(PCLinuxOS) but that didn't help either. I am going insane trying to figure this out Oh, I should add that I know it is 1.0.4 but I just reinstalled and haven't gotten to get my updates yet and this happened with 1.0.7 before I reinstalled.
  8. Update: It seems that Thunderbird is crashing now too. At least it opens though it crashes if I try and do anything.
  9. I just got some updates and now I can't seem to get Firefox to open. It works fine from another user account just not mine. I tried to launch it from a terminal and this is what I get (sorry it's so long) (gnome-font-properties:6942): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadPixmap (invalid Pixmap parameter)'. (Details: serial 2017 error_code 4 request_code 55 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) It looks like a Gnome problem so I opened up gnome-control-center and tried changing the theme/icons but nothing helped. I also looked into the Fonts but everything looked good. I also tried deleting the .metacity folder but that didn't help either. This is making me crazy so thanks for your help.
  10. Where I always buy my discs is cheapbytes http://www.cheapbytes.com/ it is very reliable and they ship it so fast I got it 2 days later.
  11. I agree. I really wanted to like it for those very reasons but maybe it'll get better. I am going to keep checking on it and trying it.
  12. I have used 2.2.8 but found that I just didn't like it as much as openoffice because it just didn't seem to work with .doc as well. Maybe it's better with 2.2.9 but I don't know.
  13. Or, as someone reminded me the other day, you could go into the programs menu and drag the shortcut onto the desktop. It should be under multimedia -> video or someplace like that. I'm using PCLinuxOS so the menus are somewhat different but not too much.
  14. I don't know what genre they are but I like Gnome Mahjongg, Gnometris, Frozen Bubble, Patience (a card game), Supertux, xBill, Tuxkart, and of course Penguin Racer. So mostly arcade with some others thrown in.
  15. I like KMail so I use that. It's simple, has all the features I need and was really easy to set up with f-prot and spamassasin. I especially like that it can run in the taskbar all the time and notify me when I have new mail. My needs are pretty basic.
