  1. I saw that you solved the problem, but is it ok to use a SATA drive as IDE? Does it have the same performance?
  2. I have a Vostro 200 and installation hangs when it's trying to recognize (I think) the hard disk. It says: Installing driver for the card disk|card_reader|ide|scsi|hardware_raid|data|firewire Intel Corporation|82801|(ICH9 Family) 2 port SATA IDE Controller. About your problem, you can try to burn the network install CD and install from Internet, if you have broadband.
  3. It's a Kingston 1GB SD Card and the kernel version is 2.6.12-17mdksmp
  4. Writing to any memory card with the card reader is really slow for me. In this same machine with Windows XP it's reasonably fast, and I've noticed that the LED of the card reader blinks at the same interval until the copy finishes. On Linux it blinks fast for a moment, then slow, then fast again, then it stops for a while... The transfer lasts much more and it uses a lot of CPU. Does this happen to someone else?
  5. I have Mandrake LE2005 in some computers and I don't want to install a newer version since everything is working properly. But now that there are no more updates for that version I still want to use urpmi to upgrade some packages to the newest version possible for LE2005, i.e., the last updates that Mandriva published. I thought that packages would be the ones left in the "updates" directory in the FTP mirrors, but that directories are now empty. What can I do?
