  1. What's on your mind?

  2. The following packages have to be removed for others to be upgraded: libdrakx-net-0.12-1mdv2007.1.noarch (due to conflicts with drakxtools-backend[<= 10.4.83]) (y/N) y Packages drakxtools-10.4.81-1mdv2007.0.i586 can not be installed It appears you have version conflicts. Urpmi is attempting to install package from 2007.0 however you have packages from 2007.1 installed. What version(s) were you using? or currently using? One thing it appears to mean is that you had testing repos configured. Packages drakxtools-10.4.81-1mdv2007.0.i586 can not be installed I t appears you are trying to fix mcc from version 2007.1 by using rpms from version 2007.0. I would suggest removing the repos pointing to version 2007.0 then set your repos to 2007.1. http://www.mandrivausers.org/easyurpmi/index.php If you had packages installed from (main_testing) "cooker?" and I am not implying you did, then problems like these are expected. Isn't "main_testing" a repo for cooker?
  3. Sorry studmuffin007 I lost track of this thead. INTERNAL ERROR: can not find image state_installed MDK::Common::Various::internal_error() called from /usr/lib/libDrakX/mygtk2.pm:274 mygtk2::gtknew() called from /usr/lib/libDrakX/ugtk2.pm:610 /usr/lib/libDrakX/ugtk2.pm /usr/lib/libDrakX/mygtk2.pm are part of drakxtools package. Maybe checking if you have these files or reinstalling of drakxtools will help. Here is a link with similar symptoms to yours. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/sh...ad.php?t=527362
  4. greetings studmuffin007 The first two things i would try is to run from a terminal as su rpmdrake or mcc To see if there are errors. Next i would login as a newly created user, then launch mcc to see if the problem is related to a specific user.
  5. I have used (mencoder) via kmplayer to convert dvd.iso to .avi file.
  6. mencoder - MPlayer's movie encoder MEncoder is a movie encoder and is a part of the MPlayer package. http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/menc-feat-vcd-dvd.html
  7. If this is the case a text install maybe an option. I have not done a fresh install for a year however other options such as "noacpi" are available if i recall correctly. Which version of mandriva is the iso? Have you checked the MD5SUM before burning?

  9. javaguy I agree 100%. Imho regulation always diminishes innovation. edit:2007-02-22 12:04 est ...then again maybe regulation encourages innovation. Either way I still believe regulation the greater of two evils.
  10. edit: i will need to to get my server up or shink my .png.

    mcc

thank you tyme tyme Yes i have and it does not show up in installed list. I don't see how it could unless there are repositories which "rpmdrake"? can find which are not in my /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg file. After scroogle searching "x11-driver-video-radeon mandriva" i get 9 hits. No english. Rpmfind.net search comes up zero. Scroogle hits for "x11-driver-video-radeon" results with a package called (xorg-x11-driver-video-radeon-6.6.3-10.1.i586.rpm) on an opensuse mirror. I can't find any evidence to conclude the package "x11-driver-video-radeon" was ever on any mandriva mirror. After installing from "mandriva-one-2007-kde1.iso" I have installed nothing on this machine which was not from the iso or repos via easyurpmi. Why would drakconf offer me software and begin to download and complete an install of something which does not appear to exist? Perhaps it was on the cd? This is the log after disabling all media through the "media manager" tool then urpmi.update -a and trying again. 22:27:58 XFdrake[7329]: ### Program is starting ### 22:27:59 XFdrake[7329]: running: /bin/rpm -q --qf %{name} task-x11 22:28:00 XFdrake[7329]: launched command: mount /proc 2>/dev/null 22:28:16 XFdrake[7329]: Xconfig::card: Xorg|radeon manually chosen 22:28:16 XFdrake[7329]: running: /bin/rpm -q --qf %{name} x11-driver-video-radeon 22:28:16 XFdrake[7329]: running: /bin/rpm -q --qf %{name} x11-driver-video-radeon 22:28:16 XFdrake[7329]: installed packages x11-driver-video-radeon What does "installed packages x11-driver-video-radeon" actually mean? Does it mean the package has not been installed? Does it mean anything? Not a big deal. I was just wondering.

    mcc

From the log window it appears "x11-driver-video-radeon" has been installed, however from the window behind it appears it has not. Just my interpretation. Is my logic flawed?
  13. i do not know what "metisse" is or if this will help. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/sh...ad.php?t=523494
  14. This link is not working for me. http://goodbye-microsoft.com Interesting though. Edit: My bad. It is working now. Thanks dexter11.
  15. ramfree17 Posted Today, 12:05 AM i have been using smart side by side with urpmi since the first "smart rpm" was available. It has helped me fix urpmi a few times. When my urpmi was borked with perl errors and segfaults the "smart package manager" has done the trick. Even though urpmi was not working with the mirrors i could still install packages. So i downloaded and installed smart rpm and dependencies. If you give it a try be advised the default install from rpm will setup channels pointing to cooker afaik.
  16. Artificial Intelligence I was thinking to give it a go, so I would like to hear from people who tried Sabayon. What's impression of it? Strengths and weakness'? I have tried it back in December through April. It was kinda like kubuntu for gentoo only better. Back then they seemed to be concentrating on 64 bit arch. I have only 32bit. The developers are asking for input from their user base and responding positively. I plan on trying it again as soon as I can free up some hard drive space. Apart from that, for me linux is linux.
  17. sometimes when i wish to find files from rpm install maybe from terminal whereis amule

    k3b

am i confused. Have you issued the command "k3b" from a terminal and then it freezes with no output? ie "errors".
  21. Steve Scrimpshire or gentoo stable
  22. i stick with the usual sources myself and am fine with it. Or anyone who doesn't. i have been cooker exclusively since 2.4 kernel and found it to be stable enough for me. i do not see evidence the "sources" have caused the trouble here however.
  23. my bad i was thinking this was some sort of issue with a failled (update upgrade install) of packages like draktools or mcc.
  24. Getting any perl errors when trying to launch from terminal?
  25. This has happened to me a few times. Usually i was able to install other packages using urpmi. My fix was urpmi smart or smart --gui or grab it ftp and install from source. Then use smart to remove, add, upgrade,or downgrade mcc. i have mirrors from easy urpmi set up for cooker, 2006, and official. Smart made it easy for me to fix my failed semi (installs, updates, upgrades). Can you install using urpmi now?
