Hi again. Well, it worked! but there is still something that is bothering me. I have to do it every time i run anything!!, is this normal? if it is, cant i make some kind of script to delete that directory everytime it apears? or something like, a script that when i execute it makes the del-dir and runs WINE with a promp wich says with what program to start the emulator? Hope someone understood something of the hole thing. Thanks for the previous tip!

Well, actually i chequed if everything was allright and it is, but!! i cant believe i didnt change anything and now its working!! I just opened the KDE Control Center went to file associations and chequed all the web related extensions, and everyone of them pointed to mozilla as the prefered application, so i just closed it. Now i pressed on one of the news and guess what? IT OPENED MOZILLA!!! DAMN IT! you cant even imagine how greatfull im to you!! :wink: Thanks Michel!! ... and well, it seems it was a stupid question after all!! :P

Here again with more stupid problems! This is what i want to do, i have a cloned panel (taskba) with the KNewsTicker Applet, and i found it REALLY REALLY usefull, BUT ! i cant seem to find the option to set Mozilla to open the links when i click on the news, it always brings up Konqueror! If anyone knows how, please let me know... Also, i found some bugs in KDE, and other stuff, do i report the to every appplication or to Mandrake directly? Thank you everyone!

All right, thanks everyone, i have the system already in transition, im writing from the moved Linux, and im installing XP on the other HD in a few days. Thanks for the support and the great links, i used ext3 for now, but more i read, more interested in ReiserFS i get. It seems to be a bit better, and the only difference beatween ext2/3 is the journaling thing, that RFS already had it, plus some details that seem pretty good. Maybe i manage and i convert this to RFS before installing XP so i use the free space. Again, thank you all!

Hi, I read something about games needing hard support for DirectX, i only knew that certain hardware (video cards to be exact, and i think audio too) supported DirectX Did anyone tryed any game on a win4lin win9x terminal? and i mean ANY game, at least Unreal Tournament or something that make use of DX7 or above, just to know if it works... hopefully someone did...and will post...! :roll:

Actually, i'm on a Linux From Scratch proyect i want to do, so i will make good use of those 5gb! :lol: So you say that DiskDrake can move all my Linux system to the other formated drive and then i reconfigure LILO (i actually know how) to boot from hdb instead of hda and is everything set? By the way, WinXP doesnt need to be on a master drive, that was with the 9x series, and i didnt got right that of Fat32 instead of NTFS, Linux cant see a NTFS partition? I thought it could... also, can you tell me a bit more of the differences between ext3 and RFS?? or just link me to somewhere i can look... thank you very much!!

Well, This is what i have: I have 2 HD, one has 15gb and the other 20gb, the first one its partitioned in two, and hosts two OS, (actually one OS and an intend of another) being MDK9.1 and Win98, the other has WinXP. Now, this is what i want: I want to 'move' Linux (everything on the patition) to the 20gb HD, wich i will format in ext3fs (if someone can tell that RFS is better and why, would help) then i want to unpartition the 15gb drive and make it one NTFS partition for winXP. I dont care about losing everything in Windoze (neither of them), i cant even remember how many times i did (god only knows) i just want my functional and personalised Linux on the other drive, is there a way to do it?? Or can i save through the MCC backup manager the system and configuration files and then replace them on the new installation? If i can make this i might even reduce XP size to 5 or less GB... Is there any free soft like VMware or Win4Lin?? I mean, if i can actually run a windows terminal on Linux, it would be quite awsome....

Hi, Im just going to post some info about copying, and passing (or what ever) Linux-Mandrake Powerpack to friends and such. I have, the Linux-Mandrake 7.2 Powerpack Deluxe, i got it real cheap becouse the MDK 8.1 was just released when i got it, so although it was a bit outdated, its was the POWERPACK and even more, DELUXE edition! And well, i just wanted to say this: HELL ITS WORTH THE MONEY! I now use MDK9.1 but i still give some use to the soft that came on each of the SEVEN CDS included. Besides the incredible amount of software the pack comes with, and that you are supporting the company to keep on the good work, and you get a cool Linux Box, and its half the price of its 'arch-enemy', YOU GET SOME GREAT QUALITY PRINTED USER REFENCE MANUALS, a MDK user one and a linux user one. About giving (or getting) it away, yo can not give/get the hole packeage, nor copy the print books for any commercial use. Also some software as sayd by someone, is commercial soft, so it can not be given freely, for example, IBMs Via Voice, or StarOffice 6.... But every piece of open AND free soft, can be given away at any time at your pleasure. Hope it helps.

Hi, Well i decided to try out WineX CVS version couze the only reasson i still have a win partition, is couze i love gaming, and although i used to use Wine, but i wanted to play Generals or Warcraft 3... to name a few, but mostly for Blitzkrieg and others i like better and im not sure they would work on Wine. Well once i got a link to a quick guide to install from CVS i followed it and i got everything right (or that was what i thought), when i actually finished installing/compiling/setuping everything i decided to try out the most simple and less dependant prog i could find, this was NOTEPAD.EXE so i copied this file to my fake_windows dir under windows and tryed running wine c:windowsnotepad.exe and all the 'simil' commands to execute the app. always getting this error: after several tryes i gave up, i searched for that 'socket' thing but couldnt find it, nor something about it. so i decided to make uninstall and use the included installer, wineinstall and when was reaching the end (after recompiling and skiping the make install beacouse i wasnt root) it sayd this: And now im asking you, what is this? and better, how do i fix it!? Thnx again! Well, i never used WvDial, so i have no clue how good it is, and i dont know if i understand what you say about its faster than Kppp, can you explain it better? About Gnome, when i send a 'startgnome' it tells me about some error, i cant post the exact one now, but i will later. I just want to have the posibility when i boot, to start kde or gnome at my plesure. 8)

So im already kppping ;-) Thanks for everything, Since im pretty new with linux (althouh i´ve tryed 3 or 4 distros), i would like to know if in Gnome i have a Gppp or something like that, and if its also on the 3er CD and if so i have to download it from the same source where i downloaded Kppp (i can search for it, its no big deal now that i know where). BTW, if i do a startx then starts KDE with de MDK display manager, what command do i issue to start Gnome without making it my default WM? Thanks again!!!

HI, Kt400 has support for AGP 3.0, also does MDK9.1, but if that ¿were? the problem, it would run fantastic on 4X, its not a big difference between 4 and 8. its mostly a marketing thing. I think you dont have the right drivers... For example my GF2MX installed as a GF1 DDR by default, and its around 3 years old, so, although drivers are similar, the ones from nVidia worked much better. maybe you can try with www.rage3d.com they always had all kinds of stuff.. Well, i hope you fix it soon, and tell how you did it and how its working, cuz i wanted to upgrade to a 9100... good luck. [/url]

Hi everyone, -- Want to read the whole story, start here, just the actual problem, go to the 'doted' line, --- Well after searching i found one person having the same issue but was on mandrakeexpert.com and it didnt had an answer, so, here i am! this is the problem: I first downloaded the 1st cd of MDK9.1, installed what i could, liked what i saw and decided to dwnld the 2nd, the problem is that i have dial up! so it takes quite some time to get the whole ISO file down, once i did it, i tryed to install the packages missing, and coulnd find the way. so i decided to go from the start all over again, and reformated the partitions, all of them. Then i had 2 cds, started the installation, selected what i wanted and everything run 'smooth' until the very last part, when it asked the 3rd cd, i sayd NO! i dont have it. so the installation, continued and finished right. Once i had the system running i went through a lot of trouble trying to get online, becouse at first, i coulnd get the modem right on MCC, then i couldnt find KPPP so, im actually getting online through MCC DrakC. but its quite boring (to say it nicely) FINALLY! ................................................................................ ................ I installed MDK9.1 with 2cds only Cant seem to find any internet dialer Is there something wrong with my MDK?? Is Kppp and all the Internet Dialers soft on the 3rd CD?? If so: How can i do to get Kppp or some other Internet Dialer?
