    Linux Games

What cybrjackle is saying, is that unreal tournament has a native version for linux. You don't need to install it with cedega/winex/wine (which is what i'm assuming since you compair it running to Steam, which you need to use cedega/winex/wine to play).
  2. When you install the nvidia drivers, it install it's own libraries for GLX that overwrite the one supllied by X. So when you updated X, it over-wrote nvidia GLX libraries with the default ones. That's why re-install nvidia fixed it.

    BBX Mercury

hey, do you think you could also make "flat" metacity theme to go with this? a theme that kinda blends in with the gtk window like theyhave for the milk and alumminum alloey theme ports.

    BBX Mercury

I agree, i like the design of the first screen shot (mac osx theme one), try to stick to the design of that one. Also, with the metacity theme i like the light boarders more. Thank you so much! I've so wanted this theme.

  8. Ok, i'm goin nuts over this. I'm trying to get gaim-vv installed, but i need to get linphone-im (both on http://sf.net/projects/gaim-vv/ ) first, but i get this error when runnng "make install" PATH="$PATH:/sbin" ldconfig -n /usr/lib ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Libraries have been installed in: /usr/lib If you ever happen to want to link against installed libraries in a given directory, LIBDIR, you must either use libtool, and specify the full pathname of the library, or use the `-LLIBDIR' flag during linking and do at least one of the following: - add LIBDIR to the `LD_LIBRARY_PATH' environment variable during execution - add LIBDIR to the `LD_RUN_PATH' environment variable during linking - use the `-Wl,--rpath -Wl,LIBDIR' linker flag - have your system administrator add LIBDIR to `/etc/ld.so.conf' See any operating system documentation about shared libraries for more information, such as the ld(1) and ld.so(8) manual pages. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- /bin/sh ../libtool --mode=install /bin/install -c libmsspeex.la /usr/lib/libmsspeex.la libtool: install: warning: relinking `libmsspeex.la' (cd /home/harry/src/linphone-im/mediastreamer; /bin/sh ../libtool --mode=relink gcc -pthread -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -DXTHREADS -D_REENTRANT -DXUSE_MTSAFE_API -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/freetype2/config -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -DXTHREADS -D_REENTRANT -DXUSE_MTSAFE_API -I/usr/include/gtk-2.0 -I/usr/lib/gtk-2.0/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/include/atk-1.0 -I/usr/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/include/freetype2 -I/usr/include/freetype2/config -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/glib-2.0/include -DG_LOG_DOMAIN="MediaStreamer" -g -O2 -o libmsspeex.la -rpath /usr/lib msspeexenc.lo msspeexdec.lo libmediastreamer.la ../speex/libspeex/libspeex.la -ldl ) libtool: link: warning: `/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.3/../../..//libgthread-2.0.la' seems to be moved mv: cannot stat `libmsspeex.0.0.0': No such file or directory libtool: install: error: relink `libmsspeex.la' with the above command before installing it make[2]: *** [install-libLTLIBRARIES] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/harry/src/linphone-im/mediastreamer' make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/harry/src/linphone-im/mediastreamer' make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1 any ideas?

    gaim question

Tools>Accounts click on your account, Modify, and there's a section there for it
  12. actually looks quite nice. I might give it a try, gkrellm can try ti be so fancy looking it's hard to read. I like the "historical" scrolling graphs though. btw, torsmo does not quite work right in gnome and kde since they both draw on the desktop. It's more sutible for something like fluxbox or openbox (or if you disable nautilus from writing to the desktop in gnome)

    VNC Problems

the problem is that by default VNC sets up the xstartup script so that it runs some light windows manager (like twm, blackbox, etc). Just edit that xstartup script, and change the line for startin the light wm, with what you want. For example, here's a default VNC ~/.vnc/xstartup file.. #!/bin/sh xrdb $HOME/.Xresources xsetroot -solid grey xterm -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" & twm & Now here's what I would want it to be for getting VNC to use GNOME.... #!/bin/sh gnome-session For KDE, you'd choose... #!/bin/sh startkde

    Gnome Menu

I know there's a gtk+ menu shadow patch. As for the transparency, I don't know. Here's a link so you don't have to google (aren't I nice?) http://www.xfce.org/gtkmenu-shadow/ <-- menu shadow patch for gtk+-2.2.X/2.4.X I'm sure you can prolly dig around for a patched mandrake rpm. (although, building from source for it really isn't that difficult, I could walk you through it if you like)
  15. he was being helpful and supplying him with links and some info about *karamba in gnome...
  16. Um.. if you notice, the transparency isn't working for.superkaramba in gnome.. As far as I know, kwin is required for that to work

    gnome-look.org

Yeah, I knind think that setting the pixmap path like they do is kinda stupid. Something that points to the relative directory would be better, so they could be installed in either one, like... pixmap_path "./stock" or pixmap_path "$THEME/stock"

    gnome-look.org

I think you need to make sure that if your draggin in a gtk theme, you have the "control" tab selected and for icons the icon tab, and for metaciy the window tab
  19. HJ

    gnome-look.org

I noticed that when I try the drag and drop with .tar.gz's it doesn't work, but with themes as .tar.bz2's it does... I don't know.
  20. Well, if X is already running on the machin you're ssh'n into, you could probably do... DISPLAY=:0 x0rfbserver

    Configure error

Just a wild guess, but try this.. urpmi libmimedir
  22. HJ

    Simple question

You can't change font colors in gnome though. :-\ They change according to the gtk2 theme (control theme) set, but you can't set a custom color.

    Configure error

make sure you have the C++ compiler installed, g++ urpmi gcc-cpp gcc-c++
