  1. Well my cellphone co. can beat up your cellphone co.
  2. Honestly I'm not sure it really matters anymore. They all run off each others towers. I know I don't get charged for it when I do. I still have the same dead spots I had with my local cell service provider. Going to a national plan only changed the fact we don't have to pay for the "extra" nation wide service.
  3. I just signed a 2 year deal with Sprint. :( I looked at the coverage is for Cingular though, not sure its any better than Sprint, if not a little less.
  4. Here is mine. Still tweaking. Yahoo widgest running.
  5. It is real and saved some money on it too. :D Thanks Justin.
  6. Went there just to look. Seen a sign on the outside door. $1000 off of a 17" MBP. $1799 new in the box. It is their slightly older Core Duo and not the Core 2 Duo, but hell I don't think I could notice the difference. Gonna have to learn how to run the darn thing now. I did get Firefox installed last night, but I think I kind of did it azz-backwards. lol Learning process just like Linux was/is. Take a screeny later and post it when I get home. :D
  7. Sorry its kbit. Just ran it again and I got 1099 kbit/sec 0.361s latency. Cool that you work at Sprint. Next time I have trouble I'll just call *2 and ask to speak to jlc/cybrjackle/justin.
  8. I got it working. The passcode wasn't 0000, as I tried that and others from what I found googling. I uninstalled bluez-utils and reinstalled and it works fine. Only thing is now I can't find how to send pics from my phone to the pc. It does not have a bluetooth option under "send". Seems as though maybe Sprint only has the option to upload to their online photo album deal. Gonna try the usb cable that came with it and see what happens. By the way you work for Sprint or something?? :) Oh yea I did a speed test at dslreports and I got 1148 k/bts down. Is that good?
  9. Thanks jlc. Yes it is Sprint and I did read through the user guide. Nothing in there about what the passcode is. Just says to enter it when asked. I'll do some searhing around.
  10. Ok I got a new cell phone, Fusic, by LG. I have a usb bluetooth dongle for my laptop and the phone finds it fine, but it is asking for a passcode and I have no idea what that would be. Anyone have an idea on what direction should I go?
  11. PC-BSD running in vmware. Seems pretty nice. See how well it works then I might actually install it. :D

    Gamers for Linux petition

I've been playing BF2 and 2142 with no problems at all. I do boot into the windows side to do it though. None of the games I play really work well in Linux and if they do you gotta jump through some serious hoops to get it done. I just want to play, not jump through hoops. Also TeamSpeak and game playing on Linux really don't go hand in hand without some trouble to get through. Linux is a great O.S., but for game playing I'll just stick to Windows.
  13. Darkscot where did you get that pic?? I'm a Bush supporter but that pic is funny as hell!!!!!
  14. I remember signing up for that forum. lol cybr, justin, or jlc, take your pick ;) told me about the distro when it first came out. Been using it pretty much ever since. I've had my dabbles in the Cores as they came out be always and still am using Ubuntu. Don't have alot of posts over there though. I never really have anything to say on any forum. I'm not much for words I guess. :(
  15. Far as I know I've never ran into any bugs. What progs were you running cybr to get these? Kind of curious.
  16. sudo, su, sudo -s, su -i, visudo........... My head hurts now...
  17. vamp, what wireless chip do you have in your laptop. I've got a Intel Pro 2200 B/G and it worked out of the box.......... after I setup the wep key or course.
  18. I have it installed but installed it after having Ubuntu installed. "sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop" Vamp the install will be a breeze for you since you have done a couple of Gentoo installs. Just get the live cd and throw it in and click on the install icon on the desktop. (The way it was with Ubuntu) The sudo thing is being blown way out of proportion. If you want to use "su" instead its not hard to add su. You already know the commands Vamp. If you want to add things for media and the likes look at 'automatix'. Pretty much click and go. http://www.getautomatix.com/ Never, as far as I know have any trouble with my conf. files, but I don't dive that deep into linux. I just fire it up and surf the net, email and simple things like that. As long as it is working I don't mess with it. Part of me thinks you'll like it, but then another part of me thinks you won't. It will probably be boring and too easy for you.
  19. For those of you that can't get enough of #musb or any other irc channel..... http://jmirc.sourceforge.net/ I put this on my cellphone today and got it working pretty good. Nokia 6255i. You'll need a cellphone that can access the internet and a data package from your provider. http://jmirc.sourceforge.net/jmIrc.jad This link is case sensitive and will install the program on your cellphone automatically. (Its is from their download page) After installing go to where ever your apps are stored on your cell phone. Start the app, but before connecting you should see an "option" for one of your keys next to your screen. Click on profiles and create a new one. Change your nick and the usual stuff. For the server change it from the default to "irc.freenode.net". Then change the default channel to whatever channel you want to join. I have mine set at #boardracing,#musb. When you are typing and want symbols, whatever key would work on your phone for msg click on that and you should see an option on your screen. Click on that key that would access the options and hi-light the "dictionary on." Then hit the options key again and you'll see symbols, navigate down to there and hit whatever key you need to. There are the symbols like #. Also when going from one channel to another you can use your navigation key to go back and forth. Here is a pic. Not sure how good it is going to look.
  20. Actually Yahoo has a linux version of their chat client. aMSN works well also. < didn't go to the link that was posted. Too lazy. >
  21. Not sure how things work anymore in Mandy, but I know on my install of Ubuntu on here, the Intel 2200 Pro was dectected on here. I wasn't able to set it up right away so I went ahead with the install without. After my install the card was in the network config tool, but it wasn't started. I tried using my wireless on/off button and that still didn't work. After a fast search on the Ubuntu forums all I had to do was "sudo gedit /etc/modules" and add this line. "ipw2200=1" In other words turning it on at the start of the modules being loaded. Could mandy be setup something like this???
  22. Ubuntu = Gnome, Kubuntu = KDE. You can get or have both if you install Ubuntu by either doing a apt-get install kde-desktop (if you just want the reg. kde) or if you want Kubuntu by doing a apt-get install kubuntu. Far as writing home to some have good experiences some have bad just like any other disto has. Just my opinion.
  23. Ix if its any help I had Ubuntu 6.06 installed and for some reason decided to try or use Fedora Core 5 for a while. Been really fighting the temptation to reinstall Ubuntu simply cause I really don't have the time. Not that it takes all the long to setup, especially with using "automatix". Its the backing up of my /home in FC5. I will go back to Ubuntu pretty soon though. I miss the fact that you can just upgrade to the next release with a simple command. Not sure if that is possible in FC 5 yet.
  24. Playing with the dumb-butt web site I have again. Took me forever to get the darn image loaded the right way. Also the thumb of the screenshot looks kine of crappy too. <has to remember how to do just some of the simplist web coding> lol http://webpages.charter.net/jmetko/screens.../Screenshot.png
