    SBlive LS

Is this SB Live! or SB Audigy LS? For SB Audigy LS, take a look at this thread: http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=14997
  2. No problem. BTW, dvd+rw-tools 5.20.x is starting to support dual-layer DVD+R: http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/hcn.html (Scroll to the bottom of the page to find out) However, I can't find the source of 5.20.x in the download page yet; probably will be released later.
  3. For the Windows version of GTK-2.4, do not install the Wimp theme or it will mess up your internationalization interface (square box instead of the font in your system language). Update: Here's my note on installing Gimp-2.0 for Windows: http://www.geocities.com/zero0w/gimp2-win32.txt
  4. As a side note, on Mandrake Linux, I connected the USB scanner to the system after Linux finished the booting and login process. Not sure if it could affect the detection process.
  5. Many changes go into this new version, the best support to Kernel 2.6 it seems from the Gentoo bugzilla report: http://www.linuxhardware.org/article.pl?sid=04/07/01/0418244 http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=55714 Glad I chose nVidia. :D
  6. Just upgrading the driver on Mandrake 10 OE, no problem here :) .
  7. Looking Glass alternative: Metisse: http://developers.slashdot.org/article.pl?.../29/229243&tid= http://insitu.lri.fr/~chapuis/metisse/index.html Screenshot: http://insitu.lri.fr/~chapuis/metisse/screenshots/
  8. Sun likes Linux on Desktop (fighting MS domination) but hates Linux on Server (losing its server business to it) The strongest developer assest Sun has, Java, was facing domination from .NET. Therefore, you will see many inconsistent claim and policy Sun has regarding both sides of the software world.
  9. Internet Explorer Is Too Dangerous to Keep Using: http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1617927,00.asp
  10. Are you saying a USB scanner is using the SCSI module?
  11. I see, so the new feature is asking users for all browser path(s) during install. (Can't remember if the older version works this way....)
  12. Wow, take it easy. There's no need to get personal B) . So it will scan your directory structure for browser name that's what you are trying to say.
  13. Hmm, I see the whole point of this thread is you like the new official flashplayer installer. B) Anyway, both ways work great as well.
  14. yeah, n00bs think so to Not just that, if you happen to install a new browser it also works pretty good. Doesn't matter whether it's n00b or guru .
  15. Heh, it's packaged from the official tarball anyway :D .
  16. Making symlink works great if you have multiple browsers. Um... that download from Macromedia has always been available I think. B) But the installer may have improved for this version. Anyway, RPM install works fine.
  17. I think supermount should be disabled for the problem it creates....
  18. What's so new about this? B)
  19. According to this page http://www.meier-geinitz.de/sane/gt68xx-backend/ You can get the firmware "sbfw.usb" and copy it to /usr/share/sane/gt68xx/ Furthermore you can try $ man sane-gt68xx and see if the man page can help you modifying /etc/sane.d/gt68xx.conf in any way.
  20. If you can get your scanner to work with Mandrake 9.x before, then I cannot tell what the problem is.... My Epson Perfection 660 requires firmware to be uploaded at start. I am not sure whether your Mustek model requires that or not.
  21. Ok, I have tried the "separate" plugin, it works OK. The "sRGB Color Space Profile" is only available from the Gimp 1.2 version, so I have to download both 1.2 and 2.0 versions of that plugin to have it work all together. The steps to perform CYMK separation is like this: Image Window: Image > Separate > Separate (to Colour) I can tell the difference in color output on the monitor.
  22. Experimental CYMK support thru the GIMP plug-in "separate": (plus Adobe ICC profiles) http://www.blackfiveservices.co.uk/separate.shtml
  23. Gimp took 15 seconds on my Windows system to scan the system font, but only for the first time I started it. Afterwards, it loaded like a breeze, very fast.
  24. Good news! GIMP-2.0.2 Win32 package is now bundled with GTK-2.4.1 + Pango 1.4. Many users who encountered font handling or crashing issue should be able to use Gimp 2.0.2 on Windows now. Grab it at the usual place: http://www.gimp.org/ Windows version: http://www.gimp.org/windows/
