update...it just started working lol, i shut it down and booted up windows to finish a DL i had goin, then shutdown and hooked the linux back up and fired her up....whent into the devices and now i can see all of my files, before i had a chance to change stuff lol ohwell.

yes i know about he HDa1 and hdb1 thing, i just copyed and pasted that stuff over for times sake. ive checked all the permissions, it wont let me change them. even if i SU in the terminal, it still says i dont have permission to change it.

ok, i think i found the problem, my fstab file says this, /dev/hdb1 /mnt/windows ntfs umask=0022,defaults 0 0 i found this in another thread, /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows ntfs umask=0,nls=iso8859-15,ro 0 0 so i tryed changing that but when i whent to save it, it sed i dont have permision to do that, so i go into the terminal and "SU" to root, try it again...still says i dont have the right to do it.....what do i do???

Ok i have Mandriva 2007, real nice and clean lookin BTW great distro, I go into the mdriva control center, mount points, create new, Hdb1(windows) set mount point, click yes to save fstab..close out go into mountpoint.....nothing...no files at all. i know it has files onit but it dont showum. Update, i restarted and whent into the devices link on the main page, it shows the HD inthere but when i go into it it says, "could not enter mnt/windows"

well this opera one is working GREAT...on one DL i got 1.4mb dl speed, real speed not a glitch, i think ill just stick with opera one as its working fine for me...thanks for those ones you just sed thow ill have to try them out when i get bored :).

yea, ive been useing BT on windows for a good 3 years, i like it better for DLing stuff. ive found how to make it go a bit faster, make it use port 6881, makes it go WAY faster.

yea its already Opened with opera, i donthave any firewals so it should be goin faster then 2kbps....ohwell.

ok cool, cuz i do have opera installed...mines wierd thow it never put its self in the start menu, i always have to use the run command....what do you have to do to get a .torrent file to run on opera? Edit- nm i figured it out lol thanks for the help, that basicly fixed my problems man :) 1more edit- well it dont work...jdoesnt DL at all...just stays on the ?/? thing....and i KNOW these torrents arnt dead.

im haveing alot of trouble iwth BT...ive installed bittornado fine i guess, but i DL a .torrent file and it doesnt do anything....i thought maybe its cuz i dont have python or somthing, so i DL that and try to install it but at the ./configure part it says i dont have any C compilers so it stops...any thoughts?

would i beable to read the stuff i have on my NTFS drive???

nope i use KDE...cant stand gnome.... but yes my windows is NTFS, damn....keep geting bad luck here....

oh ok.....well damn....oh well, as of right now everything works PERFECT, i just wanted the card drivers in so i could try cedega...ill just keep my windows for gameing then...now to figure out how to get bittorrent to install right...... quick question....i have my system set up with 2 HDs, one is 40gigs(Mandriva) and a 2nd 120gig(windows)...i have both hooked up, id like to search around on the windows one to play music and video files instead of burning them and copying them to the Linux HD....how would i go about finding it in mandriva??? ive found in the harddrake HDB...it says its all windows, but i dono how to get access to it. sorry for changing subjects on ya guys.

ok, im tryin lexs thing first, ok i found the root part that goes in the home folder, the lil side tab, i go to USR, SRC, and i have in there a nvidia-7676 and a nvidia 8762-6.1.20060plf.......i tryd this in the konsole...$ ///usr/src/nvidia-8762-6.1.20060plf make install, but i get this bash: ///usr/src/nvidia-8762-6.1.20060plf: is a directory what do i do? here is the zorg thing i think...... Ok im new, my vocabulary aint big with linux stuff...i BARRLY know my way around. I used the urpmi-DKMS(spell)-nvidia command and all installed fine i guess...i reboot and sellect my vid card geforce 6800xt(geforce 6800 generic), go to test before aplying and get a error like this.... An error occurred: (EE) Failed to load /usr/x11R6/lib/modules/extensions/nvidia/libgix.so (EE) Failed to load module "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/nvidia/libgix.so" (loader failed, 7) Try to change some parameters anyone??? and i cant seem to figure out how to install the drivers from Nvidia....i DLed the .run file but have no clue what to do next......

Ok, well i figured out how to get to root(DUH im dumb lol), i copy all the stuff it says in step 3(for that updater thing) it seems to DL 1 think per address, but then what??? i got no CLUE what ya guys are talkin about lol...im NEW..sorry for takin up yr time...

lol, um its been ahwile senc ei used linux......how do i get to ROOT to type in the address???

i when back and used the UPDATE part of the install to switch back to VESA, it works PERFECT now. i might try and DL the driver from Nvidia, cuz i wana try the cedega (spell??) to play some games with linux.....if i can play my games ill just make the full switch back to linux.

ok i re-burnd the ISO, then reinstalled, all whent PERFECT no problems....BUT upon first boot, it get to what i BELIEVE is the login, but its forzen...my mouse still works thow, and it dont seem to respond to any keyboard actions aswell. i did configure my vid card to NV(i have a gefore6800XT) so is that the problem?? PS thanks for then help to BTW.

Hi i just DLed mandriva 2006 powerpack DVD, burnd it and am tryin to install it, but i keep geting erros installing packages, i mean theres TONS of errors, some install, some dont,.....and its going REAL slow...is it aproblem with my DVD or something???? sorry for the lack of info i havent used mandrake sence 9.1 or any linux for 3 years. and it seems to be mostly all GNOME stuff too, im planing on useing KDE anyway but there was some erros with KDE media stuff as well.

Ok thanks and i have mandrake on a full HDD so i only have one OS on it i was gonna either play them off my other comps or install them on this oen and run them in Wne but thats for the advise
