    Mandrake update

Yeah. I had some problems under MDK 9.1 updates, installation and removal soucers, but before copying those commands to terminal, I went to MCC and inserted manually these lines cause I have CD's: Be carefull to check the "removable devices" box while editing the new source. I hope it helps you.
  2. aRTee, unfortunately I don't have HD for doing that. My only computer is a laptop with 20G and I have a bunch of stuffs that I need already installed.
  3. Thanks Ixthusdan, that's what I imagined. I should better wait till final realease instead.
  4. Is it worthwhile upgrading MDK 9.1 to 9.2 beta 1? I got the files for MDK 9.2 beta 1 and your opinion would be very much appreciated. What are the pros and cons of having a "newer" version, but beta, installed?
  5. SpaceCadet: I haven't had the courage to start with a wine installation process. If you google or do a search in this site you will see a bunch posts concerning wine problems. Actually the only purpose of having windows here is due to my wife's laziness. After years using windows and MacOS, I was introduced to linux that despite of not being so user friendly as the others "common" OS is beyond all my expectations. As a linux home user and as a consequence using the computer for home purposes I was able to find all equivalent applications according to my needs. Not trying to be polemical, but xmule is a good catch to replace windows engine to share files(p2p). Here you can find some options to replace windows applications. Good luck.
  6. Yeah. That's what I did, but is it harmful to the OS? With the time you will have a bunch of same files in different versions!!! Is there any warning issue concerning this?
  7. Just a simple question from a linux newbie. Is there any problem of having different versions of libs installed in the system? There are some apps that according to its versions asks, during the installation process for a lib of same version, ie: during xine-ui-0.9.8 installation it asked me for xine-lib-0.9.8. But I had a previous version already installed. What shoud I do? Install the new one that the xine asks for or install xine with --nodeps argument.
  8. here it is: As you can see, my hd is partitioned and with mdk 9.1 I'm able to listen to some mp3 loaded from windows's directories (argh!!!).

    E17 rpms!!!!!

bvc, regarding the menus, check if the symlinks was created in the correct place: With eterm I had it installed before e17 installation and during e17's libs / apps installations I got some complaints related to conflicts that were solved with --nodeps. I can't remember exactly which component(s) complained about the version of a previous installed lib. During enlightenment installation I had to use --nodeps only with evas because freetype hadn't been recognized. All other components were installed properly (i think). Ebindings, Ebony, Evidence and Etcher were installed with rpms what made things easier. Don't give up !!!

    E17 rpms!!!!!

Good initiative bvc!!! I've installed Etcher, Ebony, Ebindings (works great) and evidence (I got some problems concerning icons that was not showed due to some libs that were not previously installed, but now it's working like a charm) I'm still having problems in getting icons inside the inconbar. For those who want some help, give a look at this tutorial, for a beginner like me, It was quite complicated, but at this time I have the icon bar on desktop. This unsupported forum doesn't have a good audience (enlightenment user represents 3% among others WM users) so for those who have the intention to face a challenge go ahead. BTW: I didn't succed in changing default backgrounds. william MDK 9.1
  11. Great!!! Let me know if you succeed in putting icons inside iconbar, up to now I didn't get it.
  12. Sorry bvc, I didn't notice your question. After getting stucked trying to compile the cvs files downloaded from elightenment repository, I got all the necessary libs (rpms dtd 20030417) from freshrpms, despite being under testing for RH it has worked for MDK 9.1. I went there to check if they still are there but unfortunately they aren't, but I think that with some persistance you can find something here to download. Probably you already know this place . As you know I'm a newbie and have posted some "stupid" questions out there. The iconbar has appeared on my desktop, but with no icons inside. I'm trying to make them work.
  13. I'm trying to get iconbar in e17 to work and I'm stucked at this point: Could someone here give me a hint?
  14. xine with one of its frontends should be a better choice to playing any video file outhere here instead mplayer (very cool skins). After running gmplayer, I got the following:
  15. thanks bvc I got it working.
  16. bvc: the mplayer was installed with rpms tools in mcc. But whenever I try to run it through terminal I get: and I haven't found any possibility of auto test issue in mplayer preferences.
  17. I've already done it but with no success.
  18. hea: unfortunately i didn't worked. bvc: I've opened the files you mentioned, but how to edit this files, I mean: rc.modules is quite complicated to understand, could explain (a "cake recipe") me where and which comand line I have to nsert in these files, via vi or an editor? thanks
  19. Ok. I thing it worked but few seconds I got another error message related to video issues: the avaiable drivers are: [*]xv [*]x11 [*]xmga [*]drx3 [*]xvidix Any inputs?
  20. Yeah, this avatar is cool.(they are syncronized!!) Could you give a little more detailed instructions. I mean, My cdrom is already mounted. I've been listening cd's normally since linux installation. Under preferences tab in Mplayer I changed the DVD "mounting point" to mnt/cdrom, but still not working. Any other input?
  21. I've just installed mplayer and all its dependencies. Whenever a I try do run a DVD I get this message: With gxine I never ran into this sort of trouble. Running MDK 9.1 on a notebook with cd/dvd/rw combo. Thanks.
  22. after deleting the entries in modules.conf., everything working ok. But still inserting modulus at each reboot..
  23. Deserving my rank here in this forum, what should be considered during any sort of help, I've just inserted the modules with "modprobe" in /etc/modules.conf and the system got damaged. During booting time I receive a bunch of errors, my windows partition, my ethernet card, my internal soundcard, my hub with a bunch of devices attached to the hub (external sound, zip, mouse, etc) is not being recognized. What to do?? Reinstall the system???
