  1. Thanks bvc, everything working here: What I did: Downloaded latest j2re-1_4_2_01.rpm.bin file and installed according to what I've done before but symlinking usr/java/j2re1.4.2_01/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so to my /home/william/applications/MozillaFirebird/plugin directory. After that I opened the browser and typed in address bar: about:plugins and Bingo!!! it was there listed among others. Testing java in use I went here
  2. Nowadays I'm running mozilla firebird 0.61 (the softest and lightweight software I've ever tried) and after downloading J2re 1_4_1_04 it seems not to be working properly despite of having libjavaplugin installed in the right directory under usr/java checked if everything was really installed. Following some tuturials like Mozilla's plugin faq, MottS and DOlson's tutorial was not enough, I've synlinked libjavaplugin.oji.so to where it was recommended, but having uninstalled Mozilla broser that came with MDK by default, it's still possible to find its folder in the /usr/lib and in ~/.mozilla, so it means that I have 3 possibilities to test: I've tried both options but it still doesn't work. Quite confusing all that plugins folders! Does someone have firebird in this compact version working with java? Could someone give me some help?
  3. I use windows (argh!!!) full time at work and for domestic reasons (my wife) have a dual boot setup at home. As a ex windows and recently a ex MacOs user, I've decided to introduce myself to the freedom of choice and nowadays running linux for only 3 months. No words to describe how it has been. Each boot a new experience!!
  4. Nice postCrypticalCat, a winner one. Be welcome to our community and to the right forum.
  5. your words are mine LiquidZoo. It has just worked like a charm here replacing Esetroot by bsetbg.
  6. sud_crow: According to my exaustive experience as you could have seen in my other post, I came to one conclusion: idesk (search here) for icons and fbsetbg in an autostart.sh file was my final choice (let xinitrc intact only with exe fluxbox command line). If it was your option don't forget to make init file to load autostart.sh. After having learned how to set up flux rpm stable version (init, menu and style files), yesterday I decided to uninstall flux 0.1.14 and install devel version 0.94 (available in flux site) which is very easy to install and much better considering its configuration capabilities. (you can have rounded corners and transparent menus). With devel version I managed to get trans in Eterm automatically, without any sort of problem, with flux 0.1.14 it didn't work. With idesk installation and configuration steps follow this usage note Good luck.
  7. till when should we wait for the official 9.2 release? september?
  8. bvc and Booyah, Rox filer was my choice, easier to install and has just met my needs for a fast file manager. (for domestic reasons, my wife's lazyness, I do need to have a windows partition mounted here) and gentoo file manager hanged while mounting windows partion. With xfce4 due to many probs with dependencies I gave up to install. Everything is working like a charm with eterm and my background (without that loading delay). As soon as eterm loads I get the trans effect. Thanks again for your help and if you are curious about what we were talking about just go here but please, disregard my home page's quality, just looking for a good html editor. I didn't get icon builder to work with firebird despite of having java 2 plugin installed). (edited to make html works)
  9. Some problems still remain. Eterm, aterm, and that idesk awful blue tag. How to solve these problems? Justo to remind you all::P [edited by bvc][i also deleted the offtopic stuff]
  10. bvc. Thanks, but it didn't wor. I've set my background with bsetbg, as it was before, in the ~/.fluxbox init file, not using autostart.sh and as consequences?!?! My xintrc Flux is very fast, isn't it!! My God!!! I'm using rox filer and gentoo file manager, any better fm graphical suggestion?!?!? Each one of them having its own limitations, but faster than nautilus and kde. Thank you all guys!! I will try a google search to solve background delay and aterm trans.
  11. like the first line? I've just included it now, but still no success.Yeah I'm starting these apps in the autostart.sh bvc. Isn't it here that i set bkg in init? in which line in the style file I have the option to set bkg? root command line? It's blank! If I don't succeed to make things work here I will try souces.
  12. Thank you all for the quick response. bvc: Eterm trans works under default themes setup, but when I put it in the xinitrc or flux init with my own wallpaper it gives the following error message and wallpaper doesn't load, but applications do?!?!?: The point is that I created a autostart.sh file with the following content: this script is in ~/.fluxbox init file in the following line: . Very strange, isn't it? What a pity not to be able to benchmark my .xinitrc with yours. BooYaah: I'm already running xdm. I haven't seen any complaint about these RPM's, actually I'm not considering this possibility, but I will do a google search to check it. On the other hand I'm starting to thing about waimea or if these RPMs are buggy I will try to install from source. Thanks again for the help and if you can't help me anymore, feel confortable, you've already helped me a lot.
  13. As soon the system loads. Normally, through flux terms menu. Actually I was overriding theme defaults background putting bsetbg -f ~/my image in init file, session.screen0.rootCommand line. I've done it, but it hasn't worked. Firstly I tried it in .xinitrc but no success and after that in init file with same result. After exiting from Flux I got error messages saying that was impossible to load image file. (Esetroot /usr/share/backgrounds/singularity.jpg) Theres no such option for Esetroot no manual pages. No problems with Eterm, the problem here is the background that I haven't been able to get it working. And trans in Eterm works only with Esetroot or wmsetbg. Any suggestion? I haven't given up to receive help . Have all of you given up to help a newbie? I hope not.
  14. here i how my .xinitrc looks like:
  15. Thanks to all. paul: the mouse issue is already solved. BooYah: I've already read this thread and already commented those lines in Xsession and it worked when using fluxbox styles and consequently its own background color. This problem concerning the blue highlighted thing over icon name and Eterm transparency occurs only when I'm using my own backgroung. (it was set in the ~/.fluxbox init file). On the other hand, both problems are solved when using fluxbox themes and naturally original background.
  16. After spending much time trying to get some sort of transparency here in fluxbox menu and Eterm (using my own background, editing init file ) I definitely gave up. None of these transperancy setup have worked. I've already read all posts here concerning to fluxbox and Eterm, but none of them helped me out. The only additional configuration tool that really worked here was idesk, but with that "blue" shade on icon's name.(how to get rid of this when you are using your own background?) I've been starting flux through .xinitrc like this: It seems that to have flux and E17 running here it's mandatory to be a heavy linux user, what unfortunately I'm not yet. With E 17 I gave up, considering that probably those RPM's already discussed here are beta files(and I didn't get icons inside iconbar). Fluxbox I got the latest rpm version and very easy to install, but regarding transparency, could someone here help me to get tranparent menu with flux and tranparency with Eterm? Tranparency in Eterm works only when I use the style's background.
  17. bvc, sorry for not searching berfore and thanks it's solved. The url is bookmarked. I could never imagined the the wheel button could have this functionality. How stupid I was.
  18. the mouse I have here is a wheel one, right and left buttons and a wheel in the midle, unfortunately no middle button. I can't figure out where is the copy option in Eterm. I've alredy investigated where in the menu this option could be, are you sure Eterm has this option in the menus?
  19. I'm using the latest fluxbox version and using eterm as an option to gnome terminal. Is it possible to copy the contents on the eterm screen to an editor? With gnome terminal through the menu it was very easy. If positive, How do I go about? BTW, I've succeded in putting my favorite background on fluxbox desktop. Where I change the alpha value to get menu transparency?
