    ET

Thanks for the tip johnnyv, xqf already installed and running, but in fact what would be the advantages of using xqf? The filters? Aren't these servers the same listed in ET? How to optimize xqf usage?
  2. have you tried this, at least you have a bunch of ftp contrib sources to choose.

    USB problem

I had the same problem with my usb SB Extigy. With the system already loaded type in terminal "modprobe audio" and plug your soundcard in the computer, if it works you can add this command to your etc/rc.d/rc.local and at least you will not need to plug it in and out all the time, just turn it on and off.
  4. if you have any doubts on java installation, go here for some help: http://pgshopping.com/mdkxp/?c=ttrls/javarpm
  5. why don't you type "rpmdrake" in terminal and search for rpmdrake? If your sources are ok, you will be able to reinstall mcc with its dependencies.

    ET

I've just downloaded the latest version of ET. I type "et" in terminal, to get it working and possibly due to heavy traffic issues with the servers, I usually spend more than 30 minutes waiting for my turn to start playing. (depending on my server's choice and of course the period of the day). In the meantime,I'm not able to do anything with my computer cause it's 100% dedicated to the game. This situation is quite boring!!! Is there any alternative command line to get it working in the background? Have you been facing problems with overloaded servers?
  8. I dont know ACDsee, only the Rock & Roll band :D , but I thing you can try gthumb. I love it.
  9. Yeah!! that's it mtweidmann. Actually, I was looking for an external application that could do this job on the fly, automatically, as soon as printing command was done. Anyway thanks for the link, alredy bookmarked.
  10. Does anyone know if there's a software that can do the job Cups www Adm tool script is supposed to do? I mean, manage printer and jobs without using KDE interface.

    mplayer CVS

After compiling mplayer CVS, I had to install skins and fonts in order to get mplayer in GUI mode working properly. I've downloaded some CODEC's in a all-in-one bz2 file but don't know where to put its contents. I've checked /usr/local/share/mplayer/ but only "Skin" and "font" dirs are available. In my ~/.mplayer there isn't any dir than the one I've created to insert the fonts. In the "main" dir, I have a bunch of dirs, but any specific (i suppose) to place the codecs . Thanks for the help.
  13. willkayakforfood: Be welcome to the board. Give a look at here and check if your hardware setup is compatible. I hope it helps you. From what I'm concerned and by my own experiences, running MDK on a Compaq Presario notebook and on a desktop Compaq EVO D510 without any sort of compatibility issue. Good luck
  14. Indeed, we have. piplo: anna's suggestion is the easiest one, but in case you don't have the 3rd cd you can try http://rpmseek.com/rpm-pl/libstdc%5C%5C2.1...35,36,37,53:1:0 rpmseek is a good place (extended seek) to check files dependencies, package requirements, whatever. Good luck.
  15. I was there yesterday, as a new member, and downloaded a bunch of pixmap styes. Actually I'm using Simple F style with some changes. Looks great. Thanks for all you help.
  16. Thanks Steeve. As you can see my Eterm is borderless, no button bar and scrollbar, so I forgot that I had a menu with this possibility. Yeah, I has worked, but just a question, where this sort of user preferences are saved?
  17. In order to get rid of that annoying warning beep sound while using Eterm I type with the OS already loaded.Using flux, I edited the menu file and add this line to eterm command line, but whenever I call Eterm through menu the beep sound is still there. Here is my Eterm command line: I've tried to insert xset -b b off in .xinitrc file, but it didn't work. Is there a automatic way of making the system (maybe during booting time) to read this stopping beep sound command? Thanks.
  18. have just downloaded flux from cvs repository and now I have everything working like a charm here. actually the problem was not with the color of the toolbar, but when iconifying a window, the toolbar didn't get the same color of the window bar, button, whatever (not sure how to name it, just starting to play around with themeing). anyway, thanks for you help.
  19. Just trying to change flux toolbar color but afte reading some tutorials and documentation I was only able to change texture issues and fonts. I'm using flux 0.9.6 pre1 devel version and whenever a choose a pre-installed theme style the toolbar color is not affected. I've already edited the style file but no success in changing its color. Does anyone have a idea of what is going on here? Is it buggy? Thanks for any response.
  20. Thanks johnnyv, it worked
  21. Yeah I've already done it, but that's what I get: In my home/william/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/program dir I have only an "addin" empty folder. In home/william/OpenOffice.org.1.1.0 dir I do have a soffice symbolic link to /opt/OpenOffice.org.1.1.0/program/soffice(that's the reason soffice works when called in both dirs). Considering that I've already symlinked swriter, simpress, whatever to this dir, why do I get this sort of bash error? Any comment or help will be very much appreciated.
  22. He he he ! The sort of thing I really don't miss. Probably, he likes to receive a bunch o spam all the time. He should read G. Orwell and I like privacy. I don't consider myself able to technically discuss what that funny guy has stated, the only thing I can say is that "there's no account for taste"and indeed I don't use windows at home, it's a conscious option. I can say that MS Windows makes people to behave and think like a dumb. That's what probably justify his ideas.
  23. Indeed I noticed that chris, but the problem is that when I type swriter, simpress or whatever at terminal prompt I got a bash error saying that the command was not found. When I click on the executable file (default location ie: /opt/OpenOffice.org1.1.0) it opens the specific application (writer, calc, impress...). I've already checked permission issues, symlinked the files to my home dir (/home/OpenOffice), but everything was in vain, no success. Strange, but "soffice" command works and I have to choose which application I want to use.
  24. GreenfieldMusicman: Welcome to the board.:D After a search in my browser bookmarks I found these two links where you can find some detailed information about handling linux/unix compressed files. It has already helped a lot... [*]Go here [*]and here Good Luck
  25. killimanjaro: I'm also running flux and have just intalled tar.gz oo 1.1 file. If you want to call oo through the menu, you have to edit the following file: Add the red line to menu file and restart flux:
