I appreciate the reply. However. I have the most recent NVIDIA driver installed. The problem happens when trying to select the proper video card in XFdrak. None of the NViDIA selections will work with my 7300GT card. The only selection that will work is the XOrg vesa selection.

I just purchased a new Biostar GeForce 7300GT video card with 256MB on board. I run XFdrake, selecting the appropriate vendor->nvidia->7 series driver. Select my appropriate montior. Then select the test option to test my configuration. When I do, the monitor shows all static and it the displays the "Invalid Scan Frequency" message. After several failed attempts. I give up on the Nvidia driver and select the Xorg Vesa driver. It works. But, Is VERY slow. Does anyone know what the appropriate NVidia driver is for this card ?? Thanks in advance. I have successfully installed my 2007.0 X86_64 powerpack on my AMD Opteron 165 system. Works beautfully. However, I have noticed that the kernel starts using swap space when the the amount of memory in usage approaches 500K. I have 1GB installed. What can I do to enable the usage of the entire 1GB ram. Thanks for the reply. I came up with the 653MB. By observiing the GNOME system monitor values during the course of running my apps. It gets to 653MB. Then. Starts swapping. Unfortunetely. I can't use the 4GB kernel. As. I have a 940 dual core cpu. This I use an SMP kernel. Unless of course the is a SMP kernel built to use 4GB's.

Mandrake 2006 Kernel 2612-22SMP Looking at the gnome system monitor. It looks as though. User memory is only utilized to 653MB of 1009.8MB before the system starts swapping. Is there a kernel parameter which lets me increase the amount of user memory used. I would like to use as much of my 1GB of memory for using swap space. Thanks in advance.

I solved the problem purely by empirical efforts. Configure Your Computer ->Boot->Set up how your system boots-> Check Enable ACPI. Rebooted 2.6.12.18SMP That fixed the problem All is good now.

Thanks for the reply. I tried pressing the ESC key to watch the boot progress. However. It appears that the KB has been locked out. As nothing happens when I press the escape key. And, there aren't any errors that show up. It just freezes. And. I have to do a hard reset. Thanks again.

System runs fine using a non SMP kernel. However. A little hot. But. I only see one CPU when monitoring with Gnome monitor. I already posted that I can't boot using an SMP kernel. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Just installed Intel 820 Dual Core CPU/ASRock 775Dual -880Pro MB combo. 1 GB Geil DDR ram. When booting with kenerl 2.6.12-18. Everything works fine. I Installed the SMP kernel kernel-smp-2.6.12.18mdksmp. Now I just get the penguin boot screen. But.. the progress bar shows no progress. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have a perfectly good system running Mandriva Linux 2006. I have just purchased an ASUS P5VD1-X Socket T (LGA 775) VIA PT880 Ultra ATX Intel Motherboard, and a 3.00GZ dual Pentium 4. My question is. Can I just take all the peripherals (HD,DVD+RW,AGP Card etc..). Plug them into the new MB, turn on the switch and go ?? If not. What are the recommended steps to take.
